I wanted to start a new thread to thank Awesome for her advice, insight, humor and being an "awesome" ambassador for Pitt.

Awesome - I'm assuming you will be graduating in a few weeks. Good luck in your future endeavors and hopefully you will have time to visit the forum often and provide your sage advice.

I, too, would like to thank Awesome. You have been invaluable to those of us with kids considering Pitt. And I’m happy to report my son will be a Pitt Panther next fall :)

Oh my goodness you guys!! You’re all so sweet! :)

Staying on at Pitt! I’ll be getting my Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering with a focus on high-temperature oxidation reactions of alloyed materials (think turbines inside of engines). Super nerdy! :D

I will definitely be around and continue giving advice and answering questions, and with this next step, I can start answering questions about grad school too!

Definitely thanks Awesome! As an aero engineer, I can easily see how your PhD work can be of great benefit. Looking forward to your work represented on hypersonic aircraft of the future (so I can get to Tokyo in under 2 hours)!

Hahaha, wouldn’t that be sweet??? My sister is an Aero-Engineer so it’s a bit funny that we’ll both probably end up working in the same field, although we started out in vastly different areas.

I, too, want to say “thanks” for all your help. While son (S2) has decided not to attend Pitt, he came real close… Hard to turn down good scholarship offer from Pitt but it’s his call so not much I can do. It’s been a fun ride though… thanks to you and all others…

Best wishes as you continue your education. S1 is starting his PhD in Engineering this fall just like you are, so I know this is exciting time for you. You’ll be “Dr. Awesome.” And how awesome is that!?! Good luck!!!

By the way everyone, commencement was yesterday and it was “AWESOME”. I’m officially a graduate and an alumni for a month until I start grad school in June. The fact that I’m done hasn’t really hit me yet, but when I start realizing that I won’t see some friends in class again, I’m sure it will. Thanks for a wonderful year here on CC, and be sure to stick around for a few more ;)
