I was just wondering if you guys have given thank-you card to your teachers who wrote your recommendations. Do you think I should do that or would that just be sucking-up, even though they've already written the letter, so the card won't sway them or anything. Is a thank-you card enough, or should I get them something else? I always give gifts to my teachers at the end of the year, like souvenirs from the Pyramids and other places i go. so what do u guys think? yes to thank-you card or no? and what should i write in the note besides "thank you for taking the time to write my recommendations, etc"

You should definitely write them thank-yous. They have done something nice for you without anything in return, and you should express your gratitude for that. As a suggestion for other things to write, maybe you could say why you picked them to write your letters or wax nostalgic about your favorite moments in their class.
Good luck!

Yes. Write a thank-you card.

most importantly, be yourself, as you know this person personally, dont start getting technical and "essay-esque"

I'm writing a card for now and giving presents in April (unless I mysteriously don't get into any of my schools...).

Please write these teachers cards and let them know how their class or they personally have influenced you. There is no better gift for a teacher. I save all cards and letters that my students have written to me. They are a great pick me up on a down day!

"Do you think I should do that or would that just be sucking-up, "

Giving anyone -- including teachers and GCs -- written "thank-yous" for doing you a favor by writing recommendations, etc. is never considered "sucking up," but is considered common courtesy. Not doing such things is considered being a clod.
