Thank you letter for automatic university scholarships?

My son has sent thank you letters for each scholarship that he has received so far except for the scholarships awarded by the University based on merit. They are automatically given if you have certain gpa and ACT scores. So my question is this...Should a thank you letter be sent to the University for these? Also, he was given an alumni endowment based on merit as well (he did not apply...the university just said he was getting it) does that one need a thank you letter?? I never thought of it before tonight. I don't know what address I would send either one to...hmmmmmmmmm.

Thanks!

It can't hurt. Just email someone from admissions and thank them and the trustees and donors.

Good point, better to send one when not expected than to not send one when it was expected! Thanks!

Thank you for this post---neither me nor my D thought of doing tu note...good idea!
