Thank you wise CC members

I came here not knowing anything about boarding school and not having a clue as to how to help my son through the process. I didn’t know how to help my son find the right schools. I was overwhelmed. I was clueless. I posted some. I lurked a lot more. There was so much great advice given here.

My son cast a wide net and applied to eight schools. We need at least 75% financial aid. He has okay, but not great, grades at a school for academically gifted kids. He had a 95% on his SSAT, but he was just diagnosed a few months ago with non-attentive ADHD. Since he was just diagnosed, he’s never had any accommodations for classes or standardized tests. He is still doing well in a difficult school. Would boarding schools see that? We were nervous.

The first rejection emails hurt, especially NMH, because he went to summer session there, and he loved it. However, the sadness was short lived. He got accepted to one school–Peddie. That’s all it took. He is so happy and excited. We both cried. Peddie is an awesome school and a great fit for my son.

Thank you all, especially those of you who are done with boarding school, but have stayed to help the rest of us. I can’t imagine having gone through this process without your help. GO FALCONS!!!

Congrats @PossiblePrepMom! Happy for your son.

Congratulations @PossiblePrepMom ! Go Falcons!

I’m happy that your M10 worked out well for you, @PossiblePrepMom! Congrats to your son, and do stick around!

Congrats to your son!

Awesome!! Congratulations!

Congratulations! <:-P
Thank you for sharing your story :x =D>

Congratulations @PossiblePrepMom! That’s great. I’m so glad it worked out and your son is so happy. My son has ADHD as well (and pretty good grades but not nearly as good SSATs), and I’m hoping BS is good for him.

I have to say I am very thankful to have found this forum. The support, encouragement and mutual commiserations have been invaluable in getting me through this harrowing process. There are some good people on these threads and I’m so excited to hopefully meet some of them!
