The bottom line is that some of you are just *ed because you didn't get the big package...your finding all sorts of other reasons to bash WashU...but behind all the crap is the the fact that your just *ed.

I wish you all well wherever you end up...plz let WashU go.

to ptownbound: y would i transfer to washu when i can go to wellesley?

Ummm....I don't get why all of you are just attacking the whole university the way you are. I mean come on, I'm excited about attending next year. I did ED to Wash U, got in, and I wasn't expecting any money what so ever because they didn't need to pay me. I was already going no matter what. Now, though, I recently found out that the opposite is true and I'll be going there for much much less than I expected. So in my eyes, Wash U is a good school and you should not trash it to make yourselves feel better. If you don't like it, fine. Your entitled to your own opinion. But really, don't force it on other people.

More than half (55 percent) of colleges and universities consider demonstrated interest as a factor in the admission decision.

Private institutions and institutions with small enrollments are most likely to consider demonstrated interest as a factor in the admission process. An institutions selectivity and the institutions yield rate have almost no relation to whether the institution considers demonstrated interest.

Analysis of colleges that maintain wait lists indicate that students are not likely to be wait-listed, accepted from the wait list, or enrolled from the wait list at a higher or lower rate at institutions based on the institutions consideration of demonstrated interest. While institutions that consider demonstrated interest maintain wait lists at a higher rate than those that do not consider demonstrated interest, there is no statistical relationship indicating that those institutions maintain a wait list because they consider demonstrated interest.

if i was to transfer i'd consider stanford, or brother school MIT since ill be cross-registered. but anyways

what IS your "must lesser than expected" fee, sirwebber?

im paying, after scholorships, under $2000/year for wellesley. come to think of it... they have a estimated 2000 personal expense fee, so i guess thats wat im paying, my personal expense fee. i dont think anything but either a fullride or if they PAY you Xtra to go there can be a better deal

have fun at a shaaaadddddyyy school!

To all Juniors looking at colleges:
Please notice the intelligence, friendliness, and generally good attitudes of all the people going to washU. You might contrast this with the rabid, bitter, and senseless hatred of many of those who weren't admitted. Who do you want to go to school with?
p.s. I'm really a nice guy offline.

I agree arfa907! Wash U's undergrad population is constantly referred to as one of the nicest in the nation. I can't wait to meet everyone next fall!

xokandykyssesox: wellesley's a very fine institution. being a WashU student, I just happen to think WashU is better. either way, most people like where they go, so enjoy wellesley, just stop with the sour grapes, because I can assure you, the grapes are so very very sweet here at WashU.

well, u will not be smelling the ocean anytime soon so i suggest you go to the beach very often this summer

haha anyways im sorry i dont actually mean what i say about WashU i'm sure its an excellent school otherwise how could it be ranked 11 next to Northwestern? i'm just shocked to be waitlisted thats all

I'm from the east coast, I smell the ocean quite frequently. Also, in my opinion, WashU far exceeds Northwestern as far as academics go. NU is very overrated. Like someone else said, it's a glorified Big 10 school. Any rate, enjoy Wellesley.

I was told that Washington University in St. Louis infamously puts most of their qualified applicants into wait list, and actually addmits more students from the wait list than what from RD. The purpose of the practice is to improve yield. I searched Google but cannot find any addmission stats for Washington University in St. Louis, which is kind fishing.

Can anyone provide their addmission stats?

yeah...but the only problem with that theory is that WashU doesn't stand to benefit from improving its yield...now that UsNews doesn't take yield into account.

also juniors

note well! the general attitude pervasive towards this schools. Would you want to go to a classic "safety school" that uses unethical admissions tactics?

supermascot rocky- you are clearly trying to justify your ED decision when you know you would rather be posting in the university of pennsylvania forum. sorry about that. and oh, the nuggets are going to lose immediately in the playoffs. sorry!

Just to add to the ranting...

WashU - waitlisted
UPenn M&T - accepted
Harvard - accepted

This message is for swtswtdreams who made the comment about kb's earlier post. I wonder how or why you even came close to joining th WUSTL class of 2009. I hope you do go to Harvard so that you can find out just how idiotic and dumb that post was. Don't attack Wash U and not expect us to defend our school, and definately dont attack KB540 and expect me not to defend him. As ptownbound correctly said, GROW UP

Well, I thought I would add something. I visited Wash U and went to one of their regional sessions but figured that after that, I didn't have to make much more personal contact. I guess I was wrong. I got into several prestigious universities and was given scholarships but was waitlisted at Wash U. I was a little sad, but I think that there is a reason for everything and that I will be very happy in North Carolina next year. Good luck to everyone going to Wash U next year. The campus is beautiful and St. Louis is an awesome town. Good luck to everyone not going there as well. I may add that one school where persistence seemed to matter was Chicago. My interview was strange (and I do believe it's easier to get into than Wash U), but because I had so many problems with my application online, I talked to my admission rep a lot. Just a question, is anyone going to Chicago? I'm not for various reasons, but I haven't heard of anyone else who is either.
