Thanksgiving

Do a lot of students stay on campus for the Thanksgiving holiday? Does President Tilghman really invite students to join her for a Thanksgiving meal?

Yes she does. In addition, many of the masters of the residential colleges invite their students to a dinner at their home. Many students stay on campus since they get out after classes on Wed. and resume Monday AM. It's a short period of time for those who have far to travel. (My daughter is a freshman there and we will be going up to join her and other NJ family for Thanksgiving.)

It's more common than I expected, I guess due to how many students here are from the northeast, plus the fact that students may have some other family or close friends living nearby that they visit. I really couldn't give a ballpark figure for how many people leave, though. In my quad, I'm the only person staying (one has some relatives in Boston, another lives in upstate NY, and another has a relative in NYC). All but one dining hall close, so I imagine it's a fairly large amount that leave.

And I just found out the dinner here for Thanksgiving is just a boxed supper :(

That would be nice to be invited to the master's home. I hate the thought of my son being alone on Thanksgiving. Although, he says he doesn't mind, and that he's actually looking forward to having nothing going on.

My residential college gave my RCA money to cook us Thanksgiving dinner, but I'm going home.

Misralz, what college are you in? My son is in Forbes.
