That Darn Columbia Owl

Okay- so I visited the Campus today. It was pretty amazing (as usual), so it was nothing really special. However, I did spend like literally 3 hours today standing on the Alma Mater statue looking for that damned "owl". It's supposedly somewhere on her robe, and the first person of each class to find it a) graduates top of the class and b) gets a really hot Barnard wife. To all of you Columbians out there... does the thing really exist? After a while... I started to see what I thought resembled owls which later turned out to be like cracks. It was pretty cold too... not to mention the myriad tourists and students laughing/staring at me quizzikly. =P But I guess it was worth it.

Oh on a side note. I recently did pretty well on my PSAT (230+). I've gotten letters from most schools but for some reason I didn't get one from Columbia. And Columbia happens to be THE school i want to go to. Should I be worried? Is it because I filled out my major on the pSAT to be possibly business and Columbia doesnt have an undergrad business program? Should I like call them or something? Oh and has anyone gotten any letters of interest from Columbia? (I know it doesnt really matter at all but stil...) Aite thx guys-

WHERE IS THAT DAMN OWL?!

the owl is there, look and you'll find it

i was inundated with mailings from other schools...but not columbia

If you know it doesn't matter, why do you care? Letters are just junk mail. Maybe your mailman lost it. Who knows. No big deal.

I've never heard of this owl thing. Is this famous?

ever thought that theres more important things in life?

i didn't believe the owl thing until i saw it

but it's real

230+ on the PSAT??? and you're worried about getting into Columbia, on of the least selective ivies?

It's not, it's the third most selective college in the US, tied with Princeton and Stanford... right under Yale and Harvard. (Source: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/natudoc/natudoc_lrate_brief.php)

And Stanford is not even Ivy. That leaves, Brown, Cornell, UPenn, and Darthmouth under Columbia...

Anyway, don't let that discourage you. 230+ PSAT is amazing. Just keep up all your other stats.

ya i guess youre right, my bad
youll get in anyway

I love the repeated ignorance. People with top SAT scores often get rejected from top schools. We know nothing about the OP.

the owl exists

I was just wondering has anyone from the Class of '10 found the owl yet. I know when I went there during december I found saw it so i was just wondering if anybody else found it before me. But i guess it donesn't matte if i am the first to find it because i haven't been accepted yet.

I think I did, but it might have been wishful imgination. It could have been an owl or just a weird fold on her dress.

I found the owl last summer, but afterwards my tour guide told me it doesn't count if you find it before you actually become a student at Columbia...

wait tell me more about this owl. Where are you supposed to look?

it's in the fold of the skirt to your right when you look at her. it's honestly not all that exciting, i promise.

o wow... then I did find it. and yeah it wasn't that awesome, no offense Columbia.

THe owl is there…

ahh, the owl, on bwog i’ve seen people say it’s just a myth. but i’m always thinking about it myself. it seems kind of impossible for there to be an owl there, hidden in the folds. then again, maybe that’s the entire point, lol.

sadly, when i visited i didn’t have time to search the statue. i wish i could have though.

It’s clearly not just a myth, and it’s not that hidden. It’s just not a very well-defined owl.
