Eh, their whole first announcement vs. current announcement is so confusing. In the time it took them to post and revise incorrect announcements they could have finished up decisions and sent them out by now... ;)

i never got an interview. ***?!? i feel like its gonna hurt me, even though they promise it won't

Ah, regarding interviews..
I've seen the consensus on most threads that not having one isn't detrimental to your app so you shouldn't worry.

My question, however, is if you had (what you feel was) a great interview, how much positive weight does it have on your app?

brittnayy16x: Alumni interviews do not carry much (of any) weight. A positive interview may be used as a "tipping point" for someone who is almost exactly comparable to a second candidate in every way, but do not expect an alumni interview to heavily influence your application. On-campus interviews are another story entirely though.

just got an email from columbia...my blood ran cold and i thought i was going to faint...it was just an email regarding my application:

Thank you for your Early Decision application to Columbia University. We are nearing the end of our application review and will soon notify candidates of our decisions.

You can receive your decision online. We plan to post all decisions here on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, after 5:00pm (Eastern Time).

We are also mailing decisions, so you will receive a decision letter by mail as well.

If you applied online, to view your decision you will need both the PIN and password you created when you submitted your application. Your PIN appears at the top of this e-mail. If you have lost or forgotten your password, click here to receive your password via e-mail.

If you submitted a paper application, a PIN created for you appears at the top of this e-mail. To receive your password, please click on the "search" button here. You will then be able to use this PIN and password to check your decision online.

If you have questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 212-854-2522 or ugrad-ask@columbia.edu.

Sincerely,

Jessica Marinaccio
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

so Tuesday it is and it seems like we will need our PIN numbers...

also in regards to interviews. a friend of ours does interviews for UPenn and he says interviews do almost nothing in regards to your acceptance. He has told Penn that he HATES someone and the person has gotten in and vice versa when he liked someone. so like mikesown posted it only has a very minimal effect on your chances, if anything.

SEEMS LIKE TUESDAY IS THE FINAL OFFICIAL DATE! 5 days!!!

Seems almost negligible then :\
I wonder what their purpose is...

three more days....

Ehh?? By my count we have 1 day and 15 hours...

i was just thinking in terms of

today is sunday: 1, tmrw monday: 2, then tuesday: 3.

clearly i am not going in the math but more into humanities... i only like to think simple numbers, after that it gets a little too complicated for me.

1 day at 15 hours?!!!! ahhhhh that's even closer than what I had thought....

Ah I see, you're on the West Coast...you're not yet finished with Sunday. It's a much more reasonable hour for you to be on CC than it is for me...

ha i think as of now those of us who have applied early to cc have lost all powers for reasoning or sleep.

hahaha so true. u guys are on at 2:25????!! geeze and i thought I was out of control in this situation.

hahaha like i said...at this point we're all out of control..

it's crazy to think that this time tomorrow i will either be estaticly happy or completely devastated and depressed....

ambber1250,
you are so right
AHHHHHH

I heard from a friend that he got into Columbia... he just joined the Columbia network on FB.

oneee hourrrr..

like 50 minutes. count to 60 fifty times. then find out. THEN REACT! [In a calm fashion]. That's some unpractical advice but doable if you're into counting.
