Congrats, undecided1234! I hope I get an acceptance soon!

These next 2 weeks are critical because according to past years, they should make more offers (but the amount varies).

Does anyone think Vassar is going to use the waitlist next week?

Did anyone hear their decision today?

I hope I get an acceptance, soon. I keep saying this, but I don’t want to pay $400 for housing to my second choice college (USC) while I wait for Vassar.

My first choice is Vassar.

nhsharvard, I definitely share that sense of anxiety with you. I think we are responsible for more than half of the posts on this thread lol

Definitely, sexycani. Hopefully, we both get accepted by Vassar!

Did you put a deposit down on your second choice college?

Do you think Vassar will use their waitlist next week, too?

Yep, but Colby only asked for $50 for now. It would be pretty fun if we meet each other at Vassar. I hope that that day will come.

I hope we both make it! If we do, we could meet each other at Vassar.

For my second choice (USC), they had a $300 enrollment deposit, a $30 housing app. fee, and by next Friday, a $400 housing deposit (which is refundable, but I hope I get an acceptance from Vassar so my parents don’t have to pay for it).

Let’s hope Vassar uses the waitlist next week.

notably, vassar is no longer need-blind with their wait list. actually they are quite the opposite this year. according to my college counseler, they have depleted all financial aid funds for waitlistees. thusly, if youre needing money, you have a rather poor chance of getting in. i havent gotten the call and my counseler said at least 90 percent of the kids who are getting in heard this past week (he discussed with the vassar rep) pretty much we have terrible chances. oh well

I’m still hoping to get accepted by the waitlist. I might call my regional counselor to find out what’s happening and if they’re accepting people form the waitlist this coming week.

elijahmeadow, are you sure? I thought they promised to be need blind :(

they did promise that, which is why I am so disappointed and dumbfounded. The economic crisis is taking the toll on the best of us and it doesnt seem vassar weighed having their reputation possibly slightly injured (though actually probably not considering the majority of liberal arts colleges, even of vassar’s stature, are not need-blind with their wait list) over saving some money.
My college counselor received very explicit information that vassar was not going to be need-blind with their waiting list as I needed to know whether to commit to my other waiting list (pretty much the info was a rejection to me considering how much financial aid I need.)

hahaha wow… well it looks like the information is true, and that I am indeed getting rejected as I am in a similar financial situation as yours.

Don’t give up hope. I’ll have to talk to my high school counselor about this.

Did you ever hear back from her?

Actually, I have a private admissions counselor. He said that colleges generally use fin aid info in the waitlist admissions process.

I also talked to my regional admissions counselor for Vassar about this and she sounded hesitant and didn’t give too much info, so I’m assuming that Vassar is still waiting for the summer melt.

I called the admission office, and the lady said that Vassar is still need-blind and that Vassar is still using the waitlist. She sounded a little hesitant also, but I’m still hoping.

sexycani, hopefully, we get admitted from the waitlist. I think they’re hesitant because the waitlist is uncertain. There are other colleges taking students from their waitlist, which in turn, influences Vassar to use the waitlist.

hey guys, i just thought you should know that The Misc put a new article up online today about the wait-list. They are going to be taking 40 students from the waitlist and will be “need-sensitive” for admissions. you should check it out for more ifnfo.

Here’s the link to the article: [The Miscellany News - College preserves need-blind for 2013, becomes need-sensitive on wait list](http://www.miscellanynews.com/2.1576/college-preserves-need-blind-for-2013-becomes-need-sensitive-on-wait-list-1.1752965)

They’re only taking 40 students. Now, I’m worried.

hahaha “need sensitive.” It’s a nice term to spin their change of heart.
