The accuracy of chance threads/impact

Okay, so I’m actually getting VERY frustrated with these threads for many reasons. I’ve posted a few and have gotten COMPLETELY different results every single time. The truth is, not one person here is an admission officer and, if he/she was, they would not tell you your chances. Every year they look for something different in an applicant. I completely understand your concern and worry, but the only thing this thread will (most likely) say is tht your chances are low because it’s ivy. I have a friend who got rejected from Brown Cornell Dartmouth and Columbia, but got into Harvard. All these people on this thread can base their decision on is through their own personal experiences. Again, I know your nervous, but I feel it’s much more healthy to express your anticipation with others in the same boat rather than a chance thread that will say chances are slim BECAUSE THEY ARE!! Nothing will change the fact that Brown is ivy and is very hard to get into. All we can do is hope our best is enough instead of being discouraged by these chance threads that are (generally) inaccurate/obvious. GOOD LUCK TO ALL APPLYING ED (me lol)/RD!!! Hope we all get in and become good friends.

well spoken (ok, written). I totally agree. I posted one when I first joined cc but after hanging around awhile I realized that the only person I want to hear from that I will be accepted is the university itself! If you want to see how your stats compare to others’ stats, look at the decisions threads and keep your fingers crossed until April (RD for me!).

I agree.

I did the chance threads last year, and the only one who said “yes” was Brown!

I’m not the typical accept (no 2400 or 4.676), but I had things that couldn’t come across so well on a chance board (essays, for one).

Basically, don’t waste your time on these things.
