Well,to start off I have had no previous experience with the ACT. And since the the school is forcing everyone to take the Pre-Act this Wednesday... I decided to take some practice tests.

A coupe of my observations
-since their is no penalty for wrong answers... I should answer every question...
-Reading any of the words in the science section is worthless... just look at the questions, and graphs, or observations they want you to look at
-The reading section just sucks... they give you 35 minutes for you answer 40 questions.. *** ( I can never really seem to finish the fourth section - reading it/answering questions in time) (this has never happened to me before) ( I am a slow reader but still!)

Hm, well . . . I took the ACT in April and I scored a 28 mostly because I scored 33 on the reading section. Reading was my strong point. (25M, 25S, 33R, 29E)

Read EACH passage FULLY. I don't consider myself a fast reader (somewhat slow, in fact) but I managed to read through ALL of the passages and answer all of the questions, leaving like 12 minutes to spare. (and no, I'm not some freakish private school kid either--in fact, when I took the test I hadn't been to school in over a year).

As everyone has probably already told you, if a question doesn't make sense or if you don't know the answer after reading it 2 or 3x, circle it and skip it, and come back. I had to do this probably 5x in the reading section, but I was able to get back to them.

And if you run out of time like I did on the science section (I ran out with TWELVE questions left!! WTH?!), when your teacher says you've got 5 mins left, race through and just mark random bubbles. Somehow, I still managed to get a 25 on the science section this way. And Science was my WORST subject from the two practice tests I took--I never scored higher than 21 :-/ (yet when I took the test you're taking back when I was enrolled in HS, it was my best subject!)

I think I just had a really lucky day that day hahaha, but anyway, I hope those suggestions helped because that is what I did!
