The actual "is anyone sick of these chances threads"

Just as a warning to all you up and comers...u really shouldnt rely heavily on what you read on these forums to what "chance you may have." It truly is different for everyone (really in terms of school too). For example, i have a pretty good understanding that I might have not gotten into uchicago with my GPA if i went to a different school. This application process really is different for everyone.

I give these words just because I was in the same situation as you guys last year, constantly obsessed to this god forsaken website comparing my stats to others. But really at the end of the day i only got discouraged. I think CC can give a good ballpark figure to what's needed to get in, but remember this: we as the acceptees into uchicago dont even know what exactly we did to get in either. Maybe it was a spectacular teacher rec that pushed us over the edge, or maybe it was simply because are numbers were well-qualified. We dont know, and we really wont know.

So this is my point: This website shud only be a supplemental source for the "what are my chances" category. REally you should listen to your older siblings and most importantly your guidence counselor. Those are actual credible sources.

P.S. Just think about it...next year if you get a rejection letter from uchicago and you think to yourself, "but complete strangers on this public website told me that I would have gotten in! I dont know what i did wrong!" Thats a bad situation right there.

Ha - Who thinks your guidance counselor is a credible source of information? Most guidance departments exist for the sake of drawing a paycheck. You'd have better luck with CC - I'm serious.

Website like CC is just for those whose main purpose is to kill time and last purpose is to ensure something. At least it's my situation.
