Nah, a lot of my junior/other friends taking AP chem self-studied it.

If you have no knowledge/background of chem, it isn't recommended, because it's annoying (like, why would you want to spend all that time?), but if you took regular chem you'd probably need one of those prep books and a couple reviewing of advanced topics.

lol one of my friends just got a Princeton review or w/e, then just googled the advanced chem topics and aced the exam. She got a 5; baller status.

So you would not recommend taking the test without taking the class?

It depends.

Have you taken regular chem, or have any chemistry background? If not, I probably won't advise you, but eh, I'm not going to go so far as to say "don't do it," if you really want to and you think you'll like chem, you can go for a shot..

^ Haha, really? There's a huge gap between AP and honors/general chem at my school.

Yeah Im in regular chem right now

We just finished stoicheometry? i know i just misplet that horribly

There is probably in most schools, but if you took a full year of chemistry (even if it's regular/honors), it probably gives you a sufficient basis/background to self-study more advanced concepts with less effort/time.

Uh if you're in regular chem now, and barely finished stoichiometry, you probably don't want to self-study it this year, maybe next year.

ok thank you guys saved me 86 bucks

You should do some more research before you decide. Maybe talk to your school's AP chem teacher or borrow a prep book?

they dont teach ap chem or ap bio at our school

Yeah wow if you guys JUST learned stoichiometry, then save the AP test for later. Im assuming you are in regular chem and at my schools (and many others) there is a HUGE gap.

Personal experiences to illustrate:

Reg Chem: Never cracked open book, wrote one line of work for homework questions, aced almost all the tests, A+ overall both semesters

AP Chem: Got screwed on acid base equations. o.m.g. those will KILL you if you don't know patterns i.e. any carbon compound that is combusted = H2O and CO2 le gasp!, stoichiometry is retardedly easy, equilibrium requires actual MATH, etc.

Yeah, I recommend not taking the AP (or even the SAT ii) tests until after you take the AP course. And then I got an 800 and a 5. lol.

EDIT: And wt f?! AP tests are $105 at my school this year! It's ridiculous!

AP Chem isn't one of those self-study exams. I guess it really depends on you and your knowledge. Devote some time with a prep book and you'll probably do fine (hopefully). :)

Good luck tomorrow, yall

…I’m definitely not prepared at all.

same here loonlake.
just try to get that mentality of ap chem being another name for death out of your head and you’ll do well. :]
er … that’s what i’m trying to do. =/

What do you guys think you got? I think I got a 1 or 2 becuase I did a bunch of joke answers on the FRQ

I think I got a 0, or a dash.
