I want to study acting but I also want the option to change my mind and the USC app seems like it’s locking me into what I think I want right now rather than asking what I plan to major in. If I complete the portfolio for the BA program, am I applying directly into the program where I am set to study theater and nothing else? Does USC not follow the system of declaring majors in sophomore year? I would think that a BA theater program shouldn’t make it set in stone that theater is what i’m studying in college, that’s why I’ve been avoiding schools with only BFA programs. Does anyone have any info for me?
You enter USC with a declared major. With the Drama B.A. you do have room to minor in other subjects. But USC is sometimes restrictive in changing majors because it admits you to a certain school, and each school has different admission criteria. For example, it is easier to be admitted to Drama or Dornslife than, say, Film or CS.
