The Best Freshman Housing

i applied for north dble with sink, new dble with sink, birnkrant dble then parkside suite..............
i really want to live in a double with sink!
but i just mailed in my form like a week ago, and since i'm in hong kong, it should've just arrived -_-"

which apartments/suites are closest to the college of letters, arts, and sciences?

and can somebody comment on cardinal gardens...

Campus isn't all that big. Everywhere is close to every school. And, your questions is flawed anyways because the college isn't housed in just one building - it's housed in several throughout campus.

Cardinal Gardens is big, all the athletes live there, they've had some problems with robberies this year. Overall, they are nice apartments.

trojangirlie is right. First of all, the campus isn't big, so nothing's too far away. Secondly, the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences consists of many different majors in many different buildings. It depends what your major is going to be.

well i was just wondering because i heard century and parkside were pretty far from everything...

I stayed in Cardinal Gardens during explore USC, and I thought that it was very nice, although I wouldn't want to live there myself. They had a kitchen, living room, bathroom with a few sinks, one toilet and one shower, and two bedrooms. It was somewhat social, but not the same as the rest of the dorms. Also, it seemed pretty far away from everything else, but this was mainly because we had to carry all of our luggage and sleeping bags from the admissions office to the apartment and back. On the way back we were in high heels for the interviews. That hurt. I believe that most students on campus have a bicycle, so that makes it a lot easier.

What about Flour Tower?

I lived in century frehsman year, which is further from main campus than cardinal gardens, fluor, or parkside. I didn't have a bike, and it was never a problem. Took me maybe 10 minutes to walk to any class I had. Campus just isn't all that big.

where do you live after freshman year?

after freshman year, students tend to live off campus however off campus housing is in teh same vicinity as on campus housing almost. There are some sophomores that do live on campus.

do closets in dorms have locks? not that I have anything valuable, but I do want to have some safe storage to place my personal informations/items such my passport and my bank accounts.

^ I'm wondering about the same thing.

Is it impossible to study and New/North during the week?

originally i was going to get an apartment with a friend from home but my trip convinced me that i should try and live in a dorm my first year... hopefully i can get into new/north because the consensus seems to be that these are the places to be :(

it's ok. any place can social as long as u make it social. you can live in new/north and barely make any friends. it's all up to you. don't worry about the housing. just put ur order down and leave it up to fate. u may end up finding ur best friend for life in a building other than new/north.

to anyone who has seen the bathrooms at new/north or birnkrant, what is it like? i know birnkrant has 2 bathrooms on every floor of 22 rooms... so does 1 bathroom consist of like a toilet and a couple of showers?

still deciding whether to put century as my first choice or birnkrant. it's the whole 'community bathroom' issue.

i still haven't turned in my housing form yet. haha. anyways. i hope i'm not screwed.

Fluor Tower is all right. This suite-style dorm has many advantages, including co-ed floors, a nice common suite area with a kitchen, clean-up maids twice a week, a common study lounge on each floor, and the option of interest communities. There are also a ton of athletes residing here, especially freshmen water polo players, swimmers, divers, baseball players, and women's basketball players. The swimmers and water polo players are hot. really hot. Fluor was the place where many Olympic athletes stayed at during the 1984? olympics, and is located about 10 steps away from cafe '84 and 30 steps away from the Lyon's Center (gym).

It is definitely not quite as social as New/North and Birnkrant, which may or may not be a bad thing.

hmmm...i've been considering fluor but i still dont know which place will be the best for me. the ideal place would be a place where i could meet a lot of people, get involved in a lot of activities, and of course, study, but im not really into the whole partying thing. any suggestions?

not too sound harsh, but you really should send in your housing soon!!!! nevermind which is best, whatever you think you'd think you'd like, write it, and send it ASAP!
