The best time to fill out fafsa?

Hey I was just wondering if there was a certain time where you could be eligible for more federal? If not whens the earliest I can submit the fafsa? Im a freshman in college going on my second semester so this would be for my sophomore year. Would I just go about filling it out like my first time or is there a different procedure? thanks

Federal aid is not based on when you file the FAFSA....it is based on credits taken and current grade level. The best time to complete one is as soon as possible but before the schools deadline.

When you begin to fill out the FAFSA, as a second time filer, it will ask you if you want it to pre-fill the information that usually does not change (name, address, etc.), and you can say yes. It is much easier to file the second (third, and fourth) time because all you have to do is answer the new questions, which will come up, and enter the numbers. You should fill out the FAFSA asap. But you can wait until you and your parents have filed taxes, since you have already done it once. If you are currently receiving aid, then your school knows you will file again, and so as long as you don't miss any deadlines, as Nikkii says, you will be fine.
