Is it 5:00 pm EST? So since I’m in California can I view my application status at 2:00pm?

yes, i believe it is 5:00 EST.

also, did anyone else’s application summary page on selfservice.brown.edu change today?

@icwest0123, my summary page change today too.

Unless they say otherwise, it’s 5pm EST. They tried a different system last year (staggered notifications), but I guess they’re back to this one.

when decision come out on 12/12 there will be accept, defer, reject ? no waiting list ?

@drgreenhead There is no waitlist for ED, just deferral

If you look at the big picture, most of you will end up at top universities. the competition is not as bad as yiu think.

There are over 15000 spots available in top 10 schools and more than 30000 spots at top 20. If you are a good student in top 5% of you class and same for SATs, there are probably only 50-75000 of you. (1.5 million enter college each year, 5% is 75000, and not all these guys will go for top private universities.

You’re forgetting one thought: cross applicants and consequently cross admits. A good 5,000 students could very well be securing spots at multiple elite schools leaving people with a remote chance out of luck.

Good luck, everyone! Only five days left…

Does it mean anything if I haven’t been contacted for ap scores/quarterly reports, haven’t gotten any emails reminding me the decision is coming up, and haven’t had any change on my application summary page? I feel like my application was so unimpressive brown just forgot about me entirely :/

^My story exactly

Well at least we know we’re not alone, even if its because brown doesn’t want us haha…nervous laughter

First time I ever post on CC. But seriously, I’m nervous beyond nervous.

Can someone help research the “email reminder” thing, if it’s sent to students at random, or acts as a likely letter?

I didn’t get one, my hear died a little.

how did you application summary page change? can’t remember what it used to look like. did it list whether everything was received? and now it doesn’t?

@triumph2013 I don’t believe the “email reminder” is real. We were discussing it on the Brown countdown page, and it contains the same content on this site:

[Brown University Early Admission Decision](http://admissiondecision.brown.edu/)

However, this is not the site where we are supposed to get our decision (that would be self serve, correct?) and I can’t find any link to it on the actual Brown Admission’s page, so…

What do you mean you don’t believe it’s real? You mean you don’t think people are receiving it even though they say they are?

I applied to Brown and I will tell you this, they send an email reminder to all applicants telling them when things will be posted in waves so do not panic if you did not get one yet. That’s completely okay. I would also like to point out from the perspective of a college freshman that if you do not get into Brown ED it is not the end of the world. You can and will gain admission to another university. Should Brown ultimately deny your application (whether in the ED round or the RD round if you are deferred) and Brown is still your dream a year from now you can always apply for a transfer. Brown admits a slightly higher percentage of transfer applicants (I think 11-12% as opposed to 8-9%) and approximately 200 applicants are admitted out of 2000 (1800 rejections/waitlists) as opposed to slightly less than 3000 applicants out of a pool of 30,000 (27,000 rejections/waitlists).

I’m not sure. We were discussing the email that was posted in this forum on the Brown countdown page, and most of the people there came to the consensus that it was fake. Plus, I found that site with the same words… it says its from the admissions office at Brown but on the Brown page it specifically says to go to the selfserve site. I wouldn’t worry about it though regardless.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using CC

I didn’t get an email either. The website says that decisions will go out 12/12 after 5 pm
