I doubt he's be working a golf course ! :D

Uhm, that was 5 years ago.
They've published his schedules for his recent vacation and the prominent theme has been chopping wood. Yeah, you can work on vacation, but you get more done at the office. Whats easier, setting up a conference call and asking people to hop on a plane for a three hour flight or meeting with someone two blocks away. The government is in Washington, thats why its our capital. A few hundred years ago someone had this really great idea to have all the important people running the country in one city so they could speak with each other and run the country. And yes, Bush could have done much more. After 9/11, he could have made efficient national contingency protocal for national crisis. He could have stationed troops in New Orleans and declared Marshal Law to keep order. And he could have appropriated money three days sooner.
But the big point is he had four years to make contingency plans, and he didnt. So what the local government did nothing? They cant be counted on. What if a terrorist had nuked a state capital. The federal government needs to be able to handle large disasters quickly and efficiently. Bush had one responsibility after 9/11. Make national emergency plans to cope with a major disaster. And he didnt.

** I agree, I'm not a big fan of the vacations either, but you can't completely disregard the fact that he gets SOMETHING done. We also have telephones, faxes, and a little thing called the internet to get in touch with people over long distances. People like alien and hardstyle are painting everything black and white**

And he didnt. ** Bush had a great response to 9/11 and the Hurricanes in florida. Why you ask? Well, the Government isn't just allowed to come on in and help, it has to have approval from the state. Since Giulliani and Jeb Bush were quick to ask for help, the response there was very fast. Ray Nagin on the other hand is a moron. I believe that it is not totally Bush's fault for the delays. On the contrary, I think that its the FEMA chief's fault and Nagin's.**

I dont get your reference to palestineencyclopedia. What is it?** Oh, in another thread where we were arguing about Israel, alien workshop told me how my sources were biased, and proceeded to show me the unbiased source of palestineencyclopedia.com (or something like that). Basically, this is what it looked like:
Chapter 1: Zionist massacre in place a
Chapter 2: Zionist massacre in place b
Chapter 3: Zionist massacre in place c
Chapter 4: Zionist massacre in place d
Chapter 5: Judaism is not a religion, but an ethnic group

Very biased as you can see**.

Wow. .

"Bush had a great response to 9/11 and the Hurricanes in florida. Why you ask? Well, the Government isn't just allowed to come on in and help, it has to have approval from the state.
Bush hand picked Brown to be the head of FEMA. Bush didnt want an experienced head of FEMA, he used the slot to appoint someone completely unqualified instead of looking for experienced personel.
He didnt have a great response to 9/11. If you remember, he was reading a book to kindergardners at the time, and when he was told what happened, he simply kept on reading. Secret Service had to make him leave. His response to last years Hurricanes was adequate, but not really comparable to the current situation. Unlike Katrina, which demolished a major city, three of last years storms hit virtually the same spot in northern Florida which had a relatively small population. (My heart still went out to those who were affected.)

Hes also spent an inordinate amount of time playing golf and chopping kindlewood. It takes a very self restrained person to get a lot of work done away from the office-something he is not. President is also a LEADERSHIP POSITION. A LEADER DOESNT STAY ON VACATION FOR THREE MORE DAYS RIGHT AFTER A BIG STORM HAS WIPED A MAJOR CITY AWAY.

"The good news is - and it's hard for some to see it now - that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before. Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house - he's lost his entire house - there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch."

--President Bush, surveying damage from Hurricane Katrina

This Andover legacy admit is pathetic beyond belief. This man was unqualified but received Affirmative Action Legacy Admission to Andover, Yale & Harvard. It's obvious that this incompetent Elitist Air Head coasted through school, teachers probably inflated his pathetic grades to help him graduate, and his old money Family wealth has done nothing to give this entitled little devious brat any intellect whatsoever. Only a fool would talk about sitting on Trent Lotts rebuilt Mansions porch while bodies are floating down the street face down. I hope we have a Coutry, or for that matter a Democracy left, before the C Student from Yale term ends.

Oh Lord. This country is going to take decades to recover from the damage we've done. And we still haven't stopped. Who's to say that Bush hasn't got some horrible successor waiting in the wings? The conservatives still have all the power. Unfortunately for the world, not everyone hopes for someone to turn this country around.

It isn't even about partisanship anymore. It is about saving this country and bringing it back to form. Not to the ultimate power or extensive control. But to legitimacy and whatever else he has cost us. This era will most likely go into the history books as the most recent regime. And it's happening right before our eyes.

What makes anyone think Bush is a good president. They always say "well he's not perfect" but it isn't about perfection, he needs to rise above his faults with other strengths. He has no other strengths. He has no charisma. He's a horrible speaker. A war-monger, daddy's boy, coward, foolish. He doesn't care about anyoen but himself, his family, his rich friends. How many of those 3 groups do you fall into? None well then too bad for you because he doesn't care. What has he done for you? (even indirectly should count for this one)

Name one STRONG point his presidency has had. One thing that both parties agreed on. There should be something. Clinton had a few. (eg. Being out of the red [for once] doesn't lie.)

With his brainwashing techniques, it will be years down the line before anyone realizes what a mistake they made. Playing ignorant ("We didn't know") or even worse just saying you don't care ("At least it's not me") doesn't work anymore. In tumultuous times like these, this country doesn't need a Joe Everybody (even tho he is a Neo-conservative but let's just go with the media's point-of-view), it needs a leader.

Or maybe we'll never learn. Maybe Bush will be put in a glass case or something to be preserved forever as the country's greatest hero. The one that lead us gallantly into war (that he started) and through all of those attacks from those who hate us (which he also had a big hand in doing).

"One of the most meaningful things that's happened to me since I've been the governor the president governor president. Oops. Ex-governor. I went to Bethesda Naval Hospital to give a fellow a Purple Heart, and at the same moment I watched himget a Purple Heart for action in Iraq and at that same right after I gave him the Purple Heart, he was sworn in as a citizen of the United States a Mexican citizen, now a United States citizen."
How about adding the one where he said he watched the 1st plane hit on the NEWS (there was no televisions on his path to the classroom either further compounding his stupidity) when there was no live news converage of it because no news cameras were there. And then he REPEATED it in a completely different interview. C'mon you guys know what that means right? And it isnt the fact that he's a liar. I'm quite sure he watched it. On his own private transmission.

Oh and hardstyle, your argument is weaksauce seeing that it is nothing more than a few quotes.

I actually read that article the day it came out, I consider it one of the best stories ever written in the pages of PM. That said, it really has little to do with the discussion. The article's purpose was to debunk conspiracy theories that the US government was directly responsible for 9/11, and that there has been a huge cover up. PM did a good job refuting the wacko theories one by one fact by fact. It was even funnier to read the next month's letters to the editor. There sure are a lot of strange people in our country.

PM is run by people with gov't connections. No it actually didn't. http://www.serendipity.li/wot/pop_mech/reply_to_popular_mechanics.htm.
Hardstyle settle the hell down. Stop making liberals look hateful and accusatory. Even if you truly believe something sometimes you have to quit. I learned that lesson the hard way on this board.
