Dinesh D'Souza College list

If there are any conservative parents out there, do you have a list of these formerly great schools that have sacrificed themselves to political correctness?

Hillsdale. (That's why they made their President resign? Who would have thought a conservative college president would have to resign just because he slept with his daughter-in-law for twenty years? That's PC run amok!)

Actually, mini, it was because he spent Hillsdale's money covering up the fact that he had been sleeping with his daughter-in-law for 20 years. What could they have been thinking??? ;)

Mini:

I thought it was a case of family values?

Just PC gone wild. Why SHOULDN'T he be allowed to sleep with his daughter-in-law? It's very Biblical.

Liberty University now has gay students, too! Can you imagine? And Pepperdine! They even accepted the head and founder of a high school Gay-Straight Alliance! And Oklahoma Baptist! And this year, Oklahoma Baptist changed its rules to explicitly allow enrollment of students who openly profess support for gay rights. How could they all be so PC?

Got ya. I thought what he'd been doing was family values. You know, What is done in the family stays in the family. It's when the PC flashlight shone into all that family activity that things went awry.

NOW they have gay students? You mean, never in the history of the schools did a gay student walk its halls? No one was ever gay there? Wow...that is a statistical feat!!!!

Oh, you mean now they can actually say they are gay, and not be afraid...got it

And

Who said anything about NOW? (and who said they aren't still afraid of the PC police?)

PC is in the eye of the persecuted. ;)

ok, i'll bite... who is dinesh d'souza?

and so your Google is broken? They don't use Google in your school? Ahem.

Musictoad,

I confess I'm not sure what you mean by "Dinesh D'Souza College List". While I'm familiar with Mr. D'Souza and his books, I suspect you intended this to be a thread discussing the tendency of today's colleges to adopt PC speech codes, etc. If so, it appears the discussion has been co-opted.

I am amazed at some of the ugly and ill informed comments as I also posted on another forum.
D'Souza is an articulate graduate of Dartmouth--he was involved in the conservative movement there.
He put together a list of schools where the faculty/administration had gone overboard --very much like the movie "PCU". My reason for wanting to see the list was due to the prejudicial remarks made by many Duke faculty members regarding the LAX team--I had heard a faculty member on a national television program and was speechless at the rush to judgement and the tossing overboard of what we regard in the USA as our constitutional rights to be presumed innocent. I read reactions in the Duke section of this forum and was struck by the callousness of many applicants and kids attending.

it's just fun to make fun of people who make fun of other people,..

Since my kid attended PCU, I'll reply that "this formerly great school" is greater than ever. The premise of the question was just plain wrong and not just wrong: so vague as to be unanswerable.

What makes a college great? The "right" atmosphere? Strong curricular offerings? Top-notch facilities? Excellent professors? Classes that are not overcrowded? A good support system for students? What does political correctness have to do with whether a college has a strong math department? My S, who is rather square, was totally comfortable at PCU. No vegan demonstrated while he was trying to eat a hamburder. While he saw some guys in skirts, he went on happily wearing his jeans and khakis. There weren't any more students running around naked than at HYP on Primal Scream day.

PCU--Wesleyan-- is adding a strong math/science component; is that sacrificing greatness to political correctness? It's embarked on a fund-raising campaign to expand its programs, build new buildings, etc... Is that sacrificing greatness to politcal correctness?

Duke despite the recent scandal and the loutish behavior of some of its students, remains great in my book. Notice I say some, not all. I haven't followed what "some" of its profs have been saying, but again, they are "some," not all.

I know of some colleges that have sacrifiiced greatness to political correctness. Top of my list would be Bob Jones University.

I miss 'square',..

He can't be preppy: he's never attended prep school and would not know what a popped collar was (I know, but that's because I've been reading CC). So I settle for square.

no need to 'settle',... it's a fine word that isn't used much anymore. Square is cool.

"loutish behavior at Duke"
I rest my case regarding prejudgement.

I reference Ann Coulter's book: How to talk to a Liberal if you must.

Now can anyone give me the list without the diatribes and personal anecdotes?

They did hire the stripper to come to their home and entertain, right? For some folks , that's all they would have needed to test for lout-ism. I know my very un-PC granny would have had no trouble calling that behavior loutish (had she known the word. ;))

And to answer your specific question: no.

It is not loutish to p---or vomit on neighbors' lawn and when taken to task wonder "Why are you so upset?" It's perfectly okay. It's the neighbors whose properties are being trespassed on who are guilty of political correctness, right? Not being as politically correct as the neighobrs, I would have considered using my garden hose on both my lawn and the students. It would have cleaned up the lawn and sobered the students in one fell swoop.

Notice I did not say all Duke students. I said "some." Really, I don't see what your beef is, since I said that Duke was a great university. What else do you want?
