The Columbia Email

i was also deferred and got the email

I'm sure they have the correct email-- I've gotten all the other emails from them, and I've talked to two different people on the staff over email since December. Grrr.

quixotic, maybe they are still posting the emails. My son's didn't come until the evening. Also, just in case, check spam mail.

i got it too... excited by it.. feel dread for the 29th but whatever... i also did find odd the fact that they asked peopl if the wished to withdraw... but then again everything said in this post is very reasonable and logic.

i'm pretty sure they sent the email to everyone because I have no chance at all of getting into columbia and i got it. I just applied because my parents asked me to.

i didn't get that email last year. is this because of the rise in applicants? and we all thought class of 2010 was vastly competitive.

Maybe they only sent the email to admitted applicants?

I tried to withdraw my app from Emory about 3 times using email and twice on the phone. I haven't heard a response since.

hey nogardder if they wanted to be this obvious they might as well have told us

I also thought that this was THE email. My heart started racing! So know I know the next message from them is going to be THE email. My Columbia Interview was by far the best out of all the ones this year. Hopefully my interviewer can me a great review!

Anyways...good luck to everyone...and see you on the 29th!

_david

biggyboy, did you get in last year?

ummm... i didn't get an email..

i don't think they only sent the email to accepted applicants...if that was the case, i think we'd have a miracle on our hands because there is NO way i am getting into columbia, especially with a 6% acceptance rate?

considering yale's apps went down 10% since last year, columbia's went up 8%, and harvard's remained fairly consistent with past years, columbia wants a low yield.

as of last year, the most selective schools in the ivy league were, in order:

yale (8%), harvard (9%), columbia (10%)

so there is obviously a lot of competition this year, especially as numbers shift. this is fun to follow, i have to admit!

fdafkdjsa;fdsa

omg u guys' posts make me more nervous now

unfortunately i was not admitted last year. however, i do know of applicants who were that did not receive that email.

papas fritas --

Columbia will want a low acceptance rate, but a HIGH yield. ("Yield" is the number of accepted applicants who agree that "if Columbia likes us, then we will like it back." -- i.e., those who say "yes" to acceptance.)

Can someone copy and paste the body of this email? I'm (still) worried.
