Colleges (need help narrowing)
Columbia ED
Chicago EA
Vassar
Claremont McKenna
Cornell
Georgetown
Brown
UCLA
UCB
Michigan
UPenn
Yale
Macalester
NYU Stern
Northwestern
Amherst/Williams (help me choose)
Oberlin
Bates
Colby
Hamilton
Colgate
Carleton
Reed

Those are very optimistic chances…
Something more realistic from my perspective…

Columbia ED - Low Reach
Chicago EA - Match
Cornell - High Match/Low Reach
Georgetown - High Match
Brown - Reach
Michigan In
UPenn - Low-Mid Reach
Yale Reject
NYU Stern - High Match
Northwestern - High Match

You should start narrowing your list by which ones are good at what you’re going into, and then start considering your chances. Business? Engineering? Pre-med? Undecided?

you should definitely cut down on that list! I think you have really good chances at Columbia, Chicago and Brown. Definitely in at Northwestern, NYU and Michigan. Yale and UPenn are quite unpredictable.

idk, your gpa is quite suspect but i suppose with your school’s success with university admissions this year, those universities might give you some slack for that. your sats and ecs are outstanding and not asking for aid is gonna improve your chances tremendously for those schools (except yale, which is need-blind)

Some of these answers are horrifying. We need perspective on your GPA to give you real help. It’s looking pretty iffy for top schools but it could be good at your school. Where do you rank? Expect to need to be one of the very top applicants not only from your school but from your country for the ivies.

Columbia ED = good chance
Vassar = great chance
Claremont McKenna = good chance
Cornell = great chance
Georgetown = good-great chance
Brown = good chance
UCLA + UCB = not really sure, because you’re a foreign student and they really want great GPAs if they’re going to take out-of-state students…but go for it; they’re public.
Michigan = great chance
UPenn = probable
Yale = reach for anyone, really, but still a good shot
NYU Stern = likely
Northwestern = great chance
Amherst/Williams (help me choose) = pick Williams

I’d get rid of:
Oberlin
Bates
Colby
Hamilton
Colgate
Carleton
Reed
Macalester

your app looks very solid but i think there are two milestones you’ll have to beat: 1. being an international ASIAN student and 2. GPA that said…im not an expert on intnl acceptance stuffs or whatever but heres my guesses

Columbia ED - reach
Chicago EA - reach
Vassar - pretty good shot
Claremont McKenna - def a good shot
Cornell -reach
Georgetown - mid-high reach
Brown - reach
UCLA - pretty good shot
UCB - ? no idea
Michigan - very very good shot
UPenn - enh…reach. high reach if you’re applying for wharton
Yale - definitely…very very high reach
Macalester - ? no idea
NYU Stern - probably in
Northwestern - reach
Amherst/Williams (help me choose) - idk…in, i’d guess
Oberlin - pretty good shot
Bates - in
Colby - ? never heard of it…
Hamilton - ?
Colgate - ?
Carleton - ?
Reed -?

the last few schools you listed arent in the uber top tier so with your impressive ECs i’d say you have a pretty good shot

hey thanks for posting on my thread…i don’t know how international status affects your chances, but aside from your gpa, everything seems top-notch (I’m sure with the upward trend the gpa won’t be too much of an issue)

for narrowing down schools, i highly recommend not applying to many of the small liberal arts schools (less than 3,000-4,000 students)…i visited a some such as Wesleyan and even Tufts and there just wasn’t that college feel i had expected. of course, you should make your own opinion if you are able to visit and see if they are right for you

finally, i would check out princeton…great school, great location, decent chance of getting accepted

to be very honest, it’s not very wise to apply to yale if you are not asking for aid. it’s need blind and there are TONS of uber-qualified internationals who are applying there. you will probably have better luck with columbia/chicago/upenn/ucb/cornell.
p.s. do cut down on that list
