The Cost of Braces

How much do you think a top row (only a top row and not both) of braces cost with the inclusion of insurance? I know that it varies, but could someone give me an estimate?

Getting my wisdom teeth pulled with insurance cost around $250, so I'm sure it will be on that order (and a bit higher)

D just had top and bottoms, total cost just over $5000. I had no idea until be got the estimate.....

after insurance??? ouch...

It really depends on how crooked your teeth are and how long the braces will have to be on. You're paying for the monthly appointments to tighten the wires. Son had top and bottom but not for too long. We paid about $2500, insurance didn't cover any of it. Then there's the retainer and check-ups once the braces come off...

Insurance does cover braces? That is ********

Blahhh, I'm planning to finance my own eventually. One of my priorities once I graduate and get a job.

My teeth really are not that crooked. I just wanted braces to fix a minor overbite. Also, I really only need it for the top teeth because my bottom teeth are fine.

I believe my braces were around $4000, for both top and bottom.

For overbite problems you may still need top and bottom braces. In fact, it is often the bottom of the jaw that is moved forward to correct an overbite.

4k for top and bottom. i had them on for 2.5 years

probably about half that $ if you're only getting top.

my d is getting braces in a couple of months, her top is straight but the bottom is crooked with a crossbite (kinda goes sideways). She still has to have them on top and bottom - about $4700. Insurance pays for 1K.

A friend in her 40s has the Invisilign or whatever it's called and it costed less than braces.

Invisilign would've costed 6k for me.

We have military health insurance which doesnt include dental. My braces we're 4,000 plus getting all my wisdow teeth called 250 each and four other ones my ortho wanted out to make room for my teeth to move 250 each. I felt bad, but I didn't do anything wrong. It was something I needed. My mom didn't care, she just wanted me to be healthy. It's all over now, got them off in october :-) the 30th, to get ready for all the halloween candy :-D

My braces were $5125 before insurance. It included all orthodontist visits while I had them, the retainer afterwards, and any visits up to a year after the braces were removed.

Yeah, it includes that too, So I dont think it was bad. Plus any repairs.

Sleepy_Sentryy, how much were your braces after insurance?

You have to remember, that everyone's insurance is different. They cover different things.

Do you pay it all at once, or in installments?

Whichever you want. My ortho gave a 10% off for paying it all at once. And they set up installments if you need to and divide it into the months your going to have them for. They make sure it's paid for because you get them off.
