The Dorm Life: What to expect?!

So I am a guy and I am senior in high school and I just got accepted into my number one school!:) I have a few questions. I am actually pretty nervous about leaving home and being on my own so anything will help!

The college I am going to says that there are four bathrooms on each floor. Each one has 3 sinks, 3 toilet stalls, and 2 showers. How many people will be sharing this bathroom?

I am not comfortable with changing infront of people. Is it weird to change in the shower stall, or should I go in the toilet stall?

Is it weird to have a robe and wear that back to your room and change there?

For an Architecture major, how long will I be studying a day?

How do I get to "pick" my roommates and have a chance in getting the dorm I want?

No one know which college you are going to, how would they know that???!! If there is an individual college forum for your, ask there. Why do you have to know this? You’ll soon find out.

lol, don’t you have gym? Take a shower robe with you to use to walk to the shower and back to your room.

oops, already answered

lots, dunno

we aren’t mind readers; don’t know where you are going. You should have something in your admissions packet about that.

Don’t worry!

SUNY Delhi

Okay I can answer a couple of generic questions.

It seems like you might have a few more people than I do. My floor has about 12 girls and we all share a bathroom with 2 showers, 2 sinks, and 2 toilets.

No one is going to see you change. Most of the time when I shower no one’s in the bathroom. I usually just bring my clothes into the shower and change. Some people change in their room and walk to the bathroom in their robe. Some people change in the toilet stall and wrap a towel around them as they walk 2 steps to the shower. Whatever you want. No one cares.

No, my roommate does that and I used to do that but then I would get really really cold with just a robe on. Just try out a few things and see which one you’re the most comfortable with.

I don’t know. Probably a lot.

I don’t know. Look on their website.

You could probably get more help on the architecture question here:

-We wouldn’t know this. Would be wise to ask in the actual college thread you’re going to.

-Ah go to the shower stall. No one will care if you’re naked in the bathroom (Though it would be unexpected). At my college it’s not changing in front of 4 guys, there are 4 stalls and 80 guys on the floor yet there are time when I’m clearly the only one showering. Some time I change outside of the stall and go in. Other time I wear nothing to the stalls except town from my room and head to the bathroom and simply step in without changing.

Do whatever work for you. No matter what anyone say. Beside a robe would be most comfortable anyway.

No expert here but really it’s up to you to judge how long you’ll be studying.

This also depends on the college. Again I would try to find your college in the list of college A-Z and ask there. Just follow this link and find SUNY: [Alphabetic List of Colleges - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/alphabetic-list-colleges/)

I dunno.

It’s normal where I am for people to change in the stall. Others don’t mind being buck naked. Still others will walk to their rooms in nothing but a towel! I don’t think anyone cares as long as you’re not in their face about it.

In my dorm robes are fairly uncommon, but as I said before, I doubt anyone will care.

I dunno, I’m a computer science major.

I dunno.
