The Dreaded Wait

I finished submitting all of my college applications and I’m guessing that many of you have as well given that many schools have a January 1st RD deadline. What do you plan on doing to fill up time before the last week of March when we’ll all be getting our results. Are you feeling confident/nervous/relieved? I have two weeks of school and one week of midterms to power through before I can stop worrying about my grades. Then I’m excited to have some time to spend with friends before we all go our seperate ways next September. I’m trying not to think about where I might/might not get in but it’s really tempting. I still have some financial aid stuff to take care of but I can’t believe that this whole process is finally over. Gah. I just wanted to know how you guys are feeling and how you’re keeping your mind off what results you’ll be getting.

I’m with you in that I’m powering through to the end of the first semster. Life doesn’t stop there for me though. College is just yet another stepping stone on my path. One goal of mine is to create a startup in California, so I plan on realsing a couple apps and studying code on sites like EdX, Udemy, and FreeCodeCamp.com which is a skill I can list on my resume. Another thing I’m doing is enjoying my senior year. If you’re not living life with passion, you’re doing it wrong. I work hard and I play hard.

Don’t worry about where you get in because you’ll be fine any way. I would suggest doing something productive that you’re passionate about. Start a blog. Learn an instrument. Learn to cook. Become an artist.

What defines you aren’t the things like college degrees that people write on paper–those things are simply societal constructs. What really defines you are your knowledge, your skillset, your personality, and your experience.

A study was done of the top five things people on their deathbeds most regretted. The top three? Not having more fun, not spending more time with one’s loved ones, and not taking more risks.
