Can anyone quantify for me the effect on domestic EA applicants of including international students in this year’s EA application round? Did this lower the absolute number of domestic EA admits? How does early international success affect domestic students who were deferred?
Last year, they admitted 625 students; this year they admitted 656 students. Whether that means they admitted 31 international students, I don’t know - they didn’t release the international/domestic breakdown.
We can’t know how “early international success affects domestic students who were deferred” because it hasn’t been done before at MIT so we have no prior data to go off of. I would imagine that it wouldn’t affect it, since the idea is that any given student who would be accepted EA would be accepted RD and vice versa (and the same would be true for international students).
There’s no effect.
