I think Scand 50W counts for that … easy class

That falls under Arts and Humanities-Literary and Cultural Analysis.

:(

Earth and Space Science 16

For a while that class was the only A I’ve gotten.

what about internet and society???any comment?

Anyone have experience with Comp Lit 4CW?

im taking inf 30. it filled up so fast that it must be easy.

I took that class with Lievrouw and it was hands down one of, if not the easiest class I took at UCLA. Just make sure to click on all the links for the reading assignments (she has a way of checking to see if you’ve done so but not if you actually read them). Show up to class and just stay awake. Her hw assignments are simple and actually fun (and scarce I might add). You’ll also have to contribute to online discussions.

There are no midterms/quizzes/nothing - just a final paper that’s pretty easy to do.

You can use it as a blow off class but I personally found the information pretty interesting so I enjoyed it :)

cant wait.

any comment on A&O 2 (with Li)?

Any nice Asian Am studies courses that are also WIIs?

Anyone have any more info on Arts & Architecture: 10?

I’m already enrolled for it but I literally have no idea what it’s about. I know it’s supposed to be easy, but how much work is actually involved? Are there any papers? Weekly readings?

Which one of these classes is the easiest GE? Russian 90B, Linguistics 1, Film TV 110A for the spring quarter

I found out Mark Hansen is teaching Stats 13 in Spring '11 and just wanted to say that if you are a north campus major looking or an easy LS GE this is perfect.

I took it two years ago when he last taught it and the man is amazing. He is so sweet, and gives take-home exams. Two midterms and a final.

He essentially implies at the beginning of the course that everyone will get As. I got an A+ for hardly any work. There are weekly labs, but he literally writes out every single step for you. The definition of an Easy GE and highly recommended.

Anyone know anything about Music History 66: Getting Medieval? Sounds easy and Upton has pretty good reviews.

I’d stay away from AA10. I took it fall of my 1st year and I got a good grade, but it was a flimsy class and I think I just got lucky.

The class was kind of fun, I guess, but it was pretty hard to take seriously enough to “study” for and the testing was ridiculous… you’ve got 500 or so kids sitting side by side and the multiple choice questions are projected onto a screen. The class is eclectic and pretty random (you go from jazz to dancing to baroque to the Youtube clip of Jack Nicholson’s Joker trashing pieces of art to Spring Awakening to acting to whatever else the hell the prof wants to throw at you) and any little reference that flies out of his mouth can be on that screen as a test question.

Prof Winters is a very, very accomplished man whose romantic tension with one of the TAs was pretty entertaining to many (one-sided TA–>Winters), but the grading system is whacky. He really wanted us to experience art in all its forms, which is great, but I’d rather have a better structured class. You have to turn in 5 papers about your experience attending a performance. I had As on all my papers which suddenly turned into 4 Bs and 1 A a couple of days AFTER the final. My TA said that Winters told all the TAs to regrade student essays. The only A I got was from an essay I wrote about a TMBG concert, which wasn’t even on the recommended-but-mandatory list of crappy plays to choose from. My grade was only saved because I did well on the final.

That said, it’s all up to you :)

ETA: Oh, and he gives you EC opportunities to go up on stage to be omg artistic and share your thoughts/feelings from attending a performance and how it related to the human condition. Towards the end of the quarter you also get to omg perform ~anything~ --as long as it relates to the human condition-- and he also puts questions pertaining to these student performances on the final.

My soul and brain died a little during those 4-5 days of student performances. Some of them included a cross-gender-hatred slam poetry video, performances satirizing Asian stereotypes by ~3 different groups, a poem-dance dedicated to Michael Jackson, a skit about a student going to a rave and his first acid trip, an abstract dance by 2 frat boys and 2 frat girls where the frat boys took their shirts off at the end and asked for an A…

You really do get the best of the best. I commend anyone who didn’t die of the painful awkward. Best moment of that year was when I got to delete my AA10 notes from my hard drive. Very therapeutic.

Any ge classes for spring quarter that are available that are easy?

Specifically Philosophical and Linguistic analysis, or social analysis G.E.s?

Any opinions on these ?

POL SC1 20 - WORLD POLITICS
PHILOS 6 - INTRO
LING 1 - INTRO TO LANG.
COMM ST 10 - INTRO TO COMM. STUDIES

Thanks !

Comm 10 is by all accounts very difficult. One of my smartest friends took it and only managed to get an A by reading constantly and taking very thorough notes as well as doing a ton of memorizing. It’s considered a weeder course for the Communications major.
Poli Sci 20 has the potential to be easy because in my opinion Poli Sci classes in general are easy but it depends on the professor. Check bruinwalk.
Linguistics 1 is fairly difficult according to my friends, especially with Schuh (I think that’s his name). Definitely easier classes out there.
Philo 6- I don’t know much about this. It’s probably easier than most philosophy classes just because it has an application and isn’t so abstract, but I’d check bruinwalk to read reviews of whatever professor happens to be teaching.

Some alternates I suggest:
Poli Sci 40 with Schwartz, really ridiculously easy class but you’ll most likely have to use your 1st pass to get in.
Eng Comp 6W- seems like a pretty basic English composition class and fulfills Writing II and philosophical/linguistic analysis, so unless you have other plans to get Writing II out of the way I’d consider doing that.

If you like math and looking at patterns and that kind of stuff, I would def. recommend ling 1 (or, better - since it counts for the major and is also a GE - ling 20). Ling is nice because it doesn’t involve a lot of boring reading like history or English classes do, but is not as technical or hard to grasp (for me, anyways) as math and sciences.

Any opinions on

Poly Sci 30
GE Cluster 70A
Eng 85

Thank you
