The "Easy GE" List

MIMG 6 just open up more space if you’re not a bio major

I am a bio major. :(

Anyone know about Film/TV 110A “The History of American Television” or its professor, Caldwell? I need a decent per/vis arts GE - not necessarily the easiest, just an interesting one that isn’t difficult.

Anyone know how Ethnomusicology 20C with Amy Catlin is? Is it an easy GE? Intense workload?

I second bruin221

Morris, comp lit 4DW?

anyone??

think+ : i’m taking classics 10 w/morris right now - she’s an ok lecturer, and the class isn’t too hard. there are a lot of scattered readings tho, like 6 different books she’ll ask you to read from. i haven’t been reading and i’m on track for an A, so yeah, it’s no big. she has random lecture slides though, so even though it’s a good idea to go to lecture, write down the stuff repeats and ignore the random artwork she scatters in - if it’s important, it’ll be on her weekly summaries.

idk about 4dw, sry.

can anyone help me on deciding btwn:
ling 1
philos 8 w/smith
art his 55a w/nelson
women studies 10 w/bays?

plus, does ls 2 ever miraculously open up during second pass? i’m praying for this to happen!

Hard Bump.

So I’m lurking the schedule of classes for next fall while lurking this forum for hints on classes to take. The consensus seems to be that AA10 is definitely one of the easier courses. But on the schedule of classes it says it’s been canceled.

[Schedule of Classes: Class Listing](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/schedule/detselect.aspx?termsel=10F&subareasel=ART%26ARC&idxcrs=0010++++)

Is this true? ): Or is it possible for “canceled” classes to somehow revive themselves when registration comes around?

the professor who has been teaching it (winter) took a year long sabbatical after fall quarter, i don’t know if he’ll be teaching it when he comes back or not. i think he stated that he was basically the person who created the class and kept it going, so i’m also not sure if they’d put another teacher in it.

Classics 51A with Papadopoulos is an automatic A or A+. So much extra credit.

Regarding AA10, it is well worth taking in my opinion. I took it last fall because I knew he was going on sabbatical. He told me that he would be returning to teach it one or two more quarters this year and then he would be retiring. The class really depends on the TAs, but you must do the work and study. Do the extra credit as well. The final is definitely tougher than the midterm. I know several people who thought they’d skate with an A, but ended up getting Bs(some even Cs). It was a great class… exposes you to the performing arts and makes you think about what you are watching. He is an awesome professor… he’s won several awards including the 2009 President’s award.

Bottom line: not easy, easy, but if you sit up front, do all the work and study WELL, you should have an A no prob.

Hey- i’m a bio major planning on taking ls4, physics 6b this fall and i’m wondering what to take for my third class–
i was thinking stats 13 but that would be three math/science classes at once
and i was also thinking about polysci 40 but you have to be a polysci major to be able to take that class huh:( or could i petition or are there any recommendations about the course itself?

PS 40 will open up to non political science majors and pre-majors eventually. It may fill in the meantine. But if you are patient enough to wait for a spot on the waitlist to open up, then grab it quickly, you will get in.

Any suggestions for a history GE that counts as a writing class?

Look into Ancient Near East 10W.

As with any class, it really depends on your professor. I highly recommend Women’s Studies 10 with Professor Hammer (who apparently hasn’t taught it since 2006), but I can’t speak for anyone else who teaches it.

Any easy GEs for Philosophical and Linguistic Analysis?

I am taking Ling 1 with Shademan right now but I don’t think I want this class.
