I was just wondering how much the essays will be looked at when I send in my application. I'm in the Top 5% of my class, so I know they won't reject me. I just don't want the people at the admissions office laughing at my essays or anything, since essays are definitely not my strong point at all. I'm just trying to get into the school of Natural Sciences or Geosciences so I don't know how much that will influence how they look at my essays. I just want to get them done so I have a good chance of getting into San Jacinto and the nicer dorms. Any tips on writing them would be nice. :)

I believe the essays only count for scholarship and honors applications if you are top 10%.

If you apply through Texas Scholarships or for honors programs, then they are a part of your application (it has nothing to do with top 10%)

So if I’m not applying to the honors program or for scholarships I can ease through them without worrying too much I guess.
