^ LOL, I applied such a long time ago, I don't even know what I applied for.
I just know I put business as my major...does that mean I applied to Smeal?

^ yeah, smeal is the school of business. people said smeal is the slowest school to make decisions for applications. so i think we'll hear from them next friday or saturday

Jared..we get it..your gonna get in. You post your stats like every two seconds.

OOS does matter. Penn state wants $$ regardless of what they say.

Please stop trying to act like the guy who knows everything. That whole rant you just decided to post is what everyone already knows. We know there are a lot of applicants. We know borderline applicants take a longer time. We know people don't get deferred, they get sent to branch campuses. It's already been said.

And for all of us who continue to be "nervice", it's only going to be doubled since next week is the last week. People aren't gonna calm down just because you say to.

Ugh, you are quite obnoxious.

I still don't know why 3 of my friends who I'm 99% sure also applied for business heard back way before me when I applied before all of them. 2 friends' stats aren't higher, but oh well, whatever.

OSS matters a little bit. i meant just that maybe they haven't heard because they are OOS. it takes some time to mail things from other states.
and yes, this last week is very nervewracking. and hey, don't count out the weekends. we could still get a decision on saturday. there's no mail on sundays but saturday is still a go

Sure, most of the people waiting to hear back are Smeal, but I applied to the college of liberal arts on October 4th and I haven't heard anything, either. It's just a matter of being on the borderline -- we all know that. Shrug All that we can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

i got into smeal in early november

a lady in admissions told me that there is a 3 day period from the time the decision is made before it goes online. so if a decision was made on a thursday... you would see it on a saturday, etc, etc...

Ugh, you are quite obnoxious."

Ok, let me begin with your opinion of me being obnoxious. First and foremost, my name is spelled JarAd, as you can clearly see by how I spell it in my username. So please, if you are going to be rude and childish, get the spelling of my name right considering its staring you in the face!

Number two, if I was the guy who knew everything, than i opbviously would not be posting here, as this is a forum in which members share information to LEARN new things, which I thought you already knew, but by your rude comments, I must assume you are ignorant to this.

Lastly, your comment about people calming down just because I say they should is absolutely riciculous! Most if not all members of this forum like to offer support and consolation to others, as this process can be quite agonizing. By posing information, even if it is repeated on another thread, giving a personal situation, and showing compassion for another's situation, all things I did in my post, you can give just that little bit of hope to that one person who happens to stumble on your post. That is what CC is all about, and frankly, I am shocked that someone would be so ignorant as to what this place is all about.

Tilohnine, I wish you the best of luck in your college endeavors, but I must say there is no need for the garbage you posted here. My intentions are only positive!

burn.... ;)

thanks cwryan1... i really do look forward to meeting u!

JaradW, what high school are you at?

i'll pm you on that

Glad you got your spelling right on that one JarAd.

lol for my sake, me too!

Here's what feels weird. My D2 seems to have a better shot at Cornell, Oberlin, and Brown than she does PSU-UP. That makes no sense to me. But I predict that is what will happen.

Plainsman: No, it's not as weird as you think....last year this was the exact scenario over at the UMich board for OOS kids....many, many were denied but were ultimately accepted to top schools.....Unusual, but true....Don't think it's going to happen with your daughter, but it could......annoying, yes......

plainsman - if she gets accepted to Cornell or Brown and rejected at UP....I'll eat my hat!
Some of the honors college folks might have that result but it would be extremely rare otherwise.
Good luck to you and your d....only a few more days!

To add some more fuel to this OOS vs. IS debate, take a look at the Penn State - UP Common Data set, question C7, which ranks the importance of the academic and non-academic factors going into admissions decisions from 'very important' to 'not considered', here: C. Freshman Admission It says state residency is 'not considered'.

UGH.
Online status, still not changed.
Just went to check the mail, nothing!
WHYYY!!
I'M GOING CRAZY.
