Anyone?? I really need your thoughts?

No Chance At All.

What are your AP scores?

I thought you had a Composite ACT score of 32?

No ...its what you see there

ouch dude. Your test scores and lack of socioeconomic poorness will definitely hurt you. However, reading "A is for Admission," you will most likely get in. Your Puerto Ricaness can be downplayed, because along with Mexicans, you guys are overrepresented in the minority applicant pool (I believe 50% of all hispanic appliers are Mexican, 30% Puertos, and then 20% the rest (Cubans are also pretty big in there too))

Puerto Ricans are overrepsented? They comprise only 1.2% of the freshmen class of 2009 meaning only 25 of them. Is this really overrepresented? I thought you said something about downplaying it...? I am a little confused. What did you read from A is for admissions that makes you think I will get in? What does it say about URM, school status, rank, etc?

If you haven't already noticed, there's a reason NSM and Byerly almost never answer chances threads.
Just chill apfreak, you'll have your decision in a few weeks.

True. Wow...candlize, I have always been mindful of your posts because I can tell by the way you write (speak) that you are a mature and complex person...and I am not talking about academics but you as a person. Are you a rather pensive and reticent person, one that is not easy to read but reads others? Your posts have this kind of air...am I correct? Not trying to flatter you but I have always thought this...

haven't you posted this before? ... nonetheless, I will "bid you luck."

lol I like candlize too.

nope never posted this before...I did it the same time in zuma's stat thing...

your standardized tests are just really low man...

It seems to me that your ec's are very shallow, if you know what I mean...

puerto ricans only represent a small fraction of the hispanic population in general, perhaps 9%, so if there are 13.5% hispanics in america, only 9% of which is Puerto Rican, you can say that Puerto Ricans are about right at 1.2%. Plus THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD Puerto Ricans from Puerto Rico, especially the private catholic schools outside San Juan. So bank on being an URM in general, but dont sign your life behind it.

You are a great person in general, and i can see have done a lot of things. The ONLY thing that is a problem is your test scores. While its true that CaliCutie got in with an 1180, she was extremely poor, a good runner (i believe), and from Compton. You, although you did live a hard life in South Bronx ( i believe), may come off as a middle class hispanic. Plus your school isnt too bad, with a 989 SAT, heck Compton High has an average somewhere in the low 600/ high 500s.

That being said, i hope your scores are counterbalanced by your enthiusiam to join Fuerza Latina/o and YOU SEEMINGLY AMAZING teacher recommendations. I think that writing score will be a sting because Harvard said they generally expect students to score between 600-800 on all SATs.

Your great man, dont fret, cool down and just wait until DEC15, if its a yes pop a champagne, if its a no gun for penn or cornell.

i hope the OP isn't joking about this. I did better on my sat I's on the first try with ZERO prep whatsoever. like no prep, at all.

If harvard accepts you, then where have this world gone to.

No offence, but its just that your SAT I scores are ridiculously low.

Honestly Apfreak, if I were you I'd just wait until Dec. 14. It's kind of pointless for you to post your stats even though you have already applied, and it's not like other peoples inputs are going to help your chances any. Disregard the negative comments. All that matters now is what that decision letter says.

apfreak -

There are only 22 days left until decisions are emailed out. I think you can wait 3 weeks.

Your chances are definitely hurt very badly by your very low test scores. Your highschool is not as bad as you seem to think it is. The national average for the SAT is around the 1000 mark, so your school is right around the national average. However, it does appear as though you've made a biiig impression at the school which may help you some.

P.S. I believe CalCutie got a 1280 on her SAT not 1180. Pretty big difference there...

P.S.S. MusikAznGirl is right, but that doesn't mean that you (or myself for that matter) are gonna stop worrying.

I like candlize too.

an important distinction needs to be made here...and i think it's been said numerous times in other threads.....

being a urm and being poor are not a synonymous edge....growing up with few resources compensates for low test scores and makes achievements look even better...applicants of low ses of all race are sought after....being a urm is different as an edge in that there are just fewer urm's who apply, so for public relations, and i suppose to a certain extent the righteous good of diversity, colleges will want a student body of balanced ethnic makeup that reflects the population of the u.s.

so to summarize...being a poor urm is simply one edge compouneded by another...the two separately are still advantages themselves
