I know yall' will probably say no, but if you do can you just describe how I can make my dream come true. :-) Hahaha...thanks!

whats your unweighted gpa?

Like a 91.987, or something like that

Sorry but you seem to be vastly underestimating how difficult it is to get into Harvard. A 2100 is not nearly good enough--most have above 2250. However, since your ECs are pretty good, you should be able to get into another Ivy (but probably not HYP)

Oh ya...my mom makes like 50K (+/- 5K) 4th grade teacher.

I figured it was hard, but how close am I (be honest, it's ok, I know my chances aren't the BEST)? Oh ya, if I feel COMFORTABLE about the school and me liking it, I'd apply ED/EA/SCEA....only if it met my needs (I'm kind of quirky and like creative). The school has to have a great anthropology department also.

Not very likely?

I don't like how people say that... a 2100 is NEVER too low. Not even for Harvard.

One of my best friend got into Harvard (EA) and she only had a 1900-2000ish. YES, I know, GASP! SHOCK! She was amazing though, but by the looks of it the OP seems to have an AMAZING awards + EC, which I think will be able to boost him/her over the top :) Contrary to popular belief, Harvard isn't allll score orientated (however, you MUST have competative stats, which the OP does) but puts a lot of focus on your leadership qualities and how "interesting" of a person you are... it's a quirky school like that.

I would so much rather accept a student with a 2100 (which is an EXCELLENT score, btw) with creative and interesting awards/honors/ECs then a 2250+ student with only subpar ones in comparison.

:) Good luck!

Thanks for the inspiring story!

basically, its really hard to tell if you can get in or not...
colleges have odd ways of accepting people

id say its not impossible, but you do have some things that could be improved

Is it mostly test scores? Or like grades/rank (pretty much going to be in top 20%, no moving up)....I know that is a problem, but I don't express myself through that. I'm hoping the essays can accomplish that.

ive always been uneder the impression that grades and test scores are the most important, but thats not always the case.

example:
this kid in ourschool got like a 2300 on the sat, and he's 2nd in the class. got waitlisted to washu.
this other kid got a 2140 on the sat, and he's like 60th in the class. he made it in.

there are all sorts of things that affect it.

however, to improve your chances, of course, improving test scores is suggested.

it also helps youre a minority.

This thread kind of gives me hope now....

Find me on MSN or AIM and we will talk some more. As a public school kid, hispanic, male, with similar ECs (but in different areas) and scores...I can give some help.

Forget the SAT. Ranking below top 5% makes it very very very very hard. Even University of Wisconsin Madison (ranked 34) accepts almost exclusively students who are top 10% ot their class.

Also for you (using the official AI calculator):
AI Rank*: 3 out of 9
based on the following data:

SAT I Verbal: 550 SAT I Math: 650

SAT II No. 1: 750 SAT II No. 2: 750 SAT II No. 3: 750

Rank is Top 20% in a class of 180

*AI = academic index clculated by ivy league schools.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but 3 out of 9 is bad.

Ya, but I heard it isn't based soley on rank and scores, though it is important.

Yes but here's how it works:
rank 1-3 - 98%+ rejected
rank 3-7 - they refer to EC, essays, etc,
rank 8-9 - acceptance rate of 90%+

you know what? juss apply and see what happens.
nobody knows what will happen anyway.

But i should say that you do have a wonderful chance though;)

I think you should apply as well. I've seen many people get into HYP with less impressive stats than you, so apply. There's nothing to lose!

Well, the application fee.

UIL.. awesome.

What region are you in? I'm going to the 5A Region III meet for number sense

I'm in the region that includes districts 25-32 (27), 5A of course.
