The first rule of College Confidential is you don't talk about College Confidential.

thx for answering. I’m a closet atheist (parents are super-fundamentalist christians). I always become curious when I see things like that, even though it’s not my buisness :)

Your scores are great, I think that wherever you get in you’ll be happy with yourself. If you want to see if you improve, take the SAT again, but I wouldn’t worry about it. From what I’ve heard, top schools like these put all the good scores (which you have) in a pile then look for an interesting person. Again, g’luck!

Ah, it’s always great to see my competition :p. Good resume: scores, EC’s (could use some focus), and GPA/rank…You’ll be fine, just distinguish yourself on the essay (well don’t cause I want some of those schools) but if you MUST do something…do that :).

collegebound612 - I’ve been an open atheist since 6th grade. Because of this, my super-conservative parents (who are reform Jews because they’re lazy) had me get a bar mitzvah in Israel. The country was awesome; the religion was not. My parents still think that atheism is just a phase. Thank you for your kind words! I signed up for the December SAT just to try and bring my score over the 2200 mark. I feel that it has a nice psychological effect.

Black’s Law - I don’t see myself in competition with anybody else. I see myself as competing to match what the admissions counselors deem is a student that would fit in at their school. I don’t mean to be argumentative, but you said that I should focus my ECs. I think that I can focus in on a few of the key ones (seeing as stuff like music and baseball have literally changed my life). I was merely listing them all out there for feedback. Good luck to both of us!

I’m bumping this like an infant bumps his head.

Ivies are ivies, but they seem like low reaches to me. UF, Rollins and NYU= IN! GL

Thank you very much!

Anyone else? All comments are appreciated.

You will get in to Princeton, that’s my guess.
You could have mentioned in your first post that your mom does interviews for them, LOL.

Princeton (legacy) - Low Reach
Harvard - Reach
Yale - Reach
Columbia - Low Reach
UPenn - Low Reach
Georgetown - High Match
Stanford - Reach
WashU at St. Louis - High Match
UNC Chapel Hill - Match
UMich Ann Arbor - Match
NYU - In
UF - In
Rollins College - In

You have a fantastic shot at any of these schools, disregarding the complete unpredictability of HYPS. However, I think your legacy status will help you at Princeton, and as for everything aside from HYS, I think you have an extremely good chance of admission, if not 100%.

I also liked the reference in your title.

This title was misleading.

^^ Wow yes. I was looking through the Chances, and this title sure caught my eye. Good job OP.

Okay, here are my thoughts on your chances:

You are looking really good.

Princeton (legacy) - Match- legacy helps a lot
Harvard - Unpredictable, but you have good shot
Yale - Unpredictable, but you have a good shot
Columbia - More lenient than H or Y, good chance
UPenn - Same as Columbia
Georgetown - not that familiar with Georgetown admissions
Stanford - Unpredictable, but you have a good shot
WashU at St. Louis - Unpredictable, but you have a good shot
UNC Chapel Hill - Very good chance
UMich Ann Arbor - Very good chance
NYU - Good chance
UF - Great chance
Rollins College - I don’t know this school well, so I can’t help on this one. Sorry.

well???

justchuck: The OP was a junior when he/she (sorry if you listed it, I didn’t see it because I skimmed) posted this, so if you’re asking about his/her admissions results, he/she wouldn’t know yet.

And OP - clever title :)

You’re definitely in at UF and you’re probably going to get accepted at UNC chapel hill. NYU is good. I think you have a decent chance at Penn(as long as you’re not applying to Wharton), Georgetown and perhaps Columbia but I think you need to get your SAT scores higher especially to increase your chances at Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Princeton which are all reaches. Good Luck

Congratulations on coming out!

Oh, I realized that this got bumped. My final list of schools, and decisions, was this:

University of Pennsylvania, M&T (Wharton/SEAS) - Accepted ED
Princeton University
Harvard College
Yale University
Columbia University
Georgetown University
George Washington University
Northwestern University
University of Southern California
University of Michigan: Ann Arbor - Accepted
University of North Carolina: Chapel Hill - Accepted
University of Florida
Rollins College
Auburn University - Accepted

Everything else has been withdrawn, as I will be attending Penn.
