P.S. Your "literary gymnastics" is really starting to annoy me can you refrain from saying that phrase and I will not call your statements illogical. Let's face it, we are both equally head strong and intelligent.

Everkingly:

"I am extremely openminded to the possibility that my beliefs are wrong."

WRONG: In one of your previos posts you have said that "christianity is perfect and not flawed."

And I apologize for saying that you could be a pedophile, I never said I think you are. But my point remains that you are still somewhat blinded by fox news.

(Said to trance) "Let's face it, we are both equally head strong and intelligent."
And now you are trying to make up because you have lost whatever biased point you ever had.

Come on guys. You are so immature. Stop accusing and criticizing each other. We don't know each other, so who cares? Just leave each other alone.

this is not a question of intelligence. If you were to say, "I am more intelligent than you," I would counter with a, "You are probably right."

I will stop calling your maneuvers literary gymnastics since it irritates you, but you still must tell me why I am illogical. You have already called my statement logical. I call on you to either defend that statement or to admit that you spoke erroneously. Stand by what you said or admit that you were wrong.

everkingly>Love how it goes from "illogical" to "head strong and intelligent".

I have wasted enough time here already. I am sticking to the business and Upenn boards.

Distinction: I do not critisize him. I respect him for engaging in rational debate just as I respect all my opponents. I do, however, attack his arguments.

Everkingly and projection, oh good. :)

I'd just like to comment: Everkingly: STOP COMMENTING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE'S POSTS WITH 'WE'.. youre one person, and personally, I think Trancestorm is welcome to keep posting..

[Just don't talk. You hate religions. We get it. You have said your peace and I think we have frankly gotten tired of your posts.]
everkingly: dude, you sound so freakin arrogant... calm down man...

[I know way more about the histories of my people then you do so don't try to come here and give me a lecture on the history of the Aztec and Mayan empires.]
Do you not realize that is EXACTLY what you are doing with Islamic History?

Me_: Actually this discussion board began as a discussion of the CURRENT situation in the Islamic community. However, WE have (for better or worse) been distracted by an useless debate about the history of Islam. I take some of the responsibility for having led this discussion on the wrong course and fully intend to return it to the true subject matter of this debate and that is were the Danish newspapers correct in publishing the Muhammed characatures.

Trancestorm: Nor have I ever criticized you. I have only ever criticized your statements. At least, we are on the same page.

Hairypotty: I could not agree more. Let's have a nice civilized discourse.

Mahras2: I am sorry to say that I will not miss you on this discussion thread and I am sure that you will not miss me so at least WE have found something that we both agree upon.

Guguru: You are the last person that should call me biased. By the way, I hardly ever watch Fox news. In fact, I watch mostly CNN, and MSNBC. Where did you get that I love Fox news? I only ever said that there are other biased news outlets.

[ I misspelled one word that had nothing to do with the point I was trying to make. Trancestorm is trying to make himself look like he is the Latin American history buff and yet he can not even spell the most basic of terms especially when nearly 80 percent of all Latinos are mestizos or mulattos.]
dude. you make no sense, on top of that, nearly 50 % of your arguments are based on the persons spelling..

To all: Recently, several officials (religious and political) in the Islamic community have said that the European media should be stopped from printing any articles or cartoons that insult Muhammed. Do any of you agree that the Media should be prevented from insulting religions? Or should freedom of speech always be protected? Keep in mind that this censorship could also prevent the media from making valid statements about religions.

Me_: Well, I never knew that you added up all of my comments and then counted the number of statements that purely had to do with misspellings and then divided these numbers. I can't believe that that number was exactly .5 or 50%. Wow, you must have a lot of time on your hands!

[Recently, several officials (religious and political) in the Islamic community have said that the European media should be stopped from printing any articles or cartoons that insult Muhammed. Do any of you agree that the Media should be prevented from insulting religions? ]
And do you know that in some places in Europe it's ILLEGAL to say anything against Jews??? Do you realize no one has ever taken the time to point THAT out???

Me_: "And do you know that in some places in Europe it's ILLEGAL to say anything against Jews??? Do you realize no one has ever taken the time to point THAT out???"

Your statement is absolutely false. The European media is free to criticize the Jewish faith. There are certain European countries, like Germany, that forbid the media or anyone from making insulting comments about the Holocaust. Remember that between 5 million and ten million non-Jews were killed in the Holocaust including Gypsies, Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, Muslims, Homosexuals and political dissidents.

But you still have failed to answer my question. Do you or do you not believe in the full freedom of speech?

"You are the last person that should call me biased. By the way, I hardly ever watch Fox news. In fact, I watch mostly CNN, and MSNBC. Where did you get that I love Fox news?"

Dude I was joking, calm down, its a joke. And I am not really biased, I'm just arguing your biased points.

On the matter of the caricatures, I think they were wrong but not intended for offense, i think it was more a social experiment, and I think Muslims in the east have taken it wayyyyyy to far and are harming themselves.

I agree except for that part about the biased points. I, too, think that if anything the Muslim protesters are only fueling the image that Islam propagates violence. The ransacking and destruction of embassies and other European administrative offices have only worsened the situation. The cartoons were published way back in September and only became such a serious issue after the violent protests.

I strongly believe in freedom of speech and I am completely opposed to the idea of censorship of the media. The media is meant to provoke and stimulate debate otherwise it loses its importance in society.
