On College Board, universities are required to report which % of students have a GPA of 3.75+, 3.5 to 3.75, and so on.

...Is that GPA the core GPA, or the GPA of all classes, including electives?

Help if you can, please.

EDIT: Please realize I'm asking specifically about that statistic that is reported, NOT how the colleges recompute it. I'm aware that most top schools only consider non-elective classes.

I believe it’s the unweighted GPA. Also, I believe most top schools consider your elective class grades as well. If you have A’s in all your AP/honors classes but Bs/Cs in your electives, then that’s going to be a problem.

An0maly - Thanks for the quick response. I’m applying to HYS, Rice, and a few other top schools. My UW GPA is a 3.88 without electives, and a 3.96 with electives.

I was wondering if that specific statistic that colleges report, which is listed on the College Board website, includes electives or not. Do you know if that’s a core GPA they report or a GPA for all classes?

Anyone?

Do colleges report core GPA or GPA with electives?
