But the Language arts was hard for me too

yea science is the hardest for me… i got high 30’s in all sections, except science where i got 29 :P

Science was my only 36. (I had 34’s in the other 3 categories, 35 comp). Science has the densest questions, but you don’t really have to bring in any prior knowledge (although it helps). Science is all about data analysis- from reading the question, you need to know what you’re looking for, and then you have to find it quickly in the data they give you. Not too bad.

I’d say Math, but only because of the timing. I am really good at math, but I always seem to finish without enough time to check my answers. English is my best for sure.

I never check my answers; I think it wastes too much time. Usually I just skip or do, and save the hard ones for the end. Last time I finished with just enough time to eliminate a few of the answer choices of my last question.

I got a 22 on the practice test. Bad, I know.

I thought the science was hard. I spent too much time looking at the charts that I was only able to answer a fraction of the questions. When I take the real test, I’m going to have to not dilly dally!

Take the exams once and then retest on the subjects you are stronger in. It seems the more you take the exams, the more comfortable you will be taking them.

Tackle the reading section over and over and over again until you have a 36. I promise you that this will definitely improve your science score because it basically is a reading test. It will improve your math score because if you truly don’t understand a problem on the math section…it’s probably because you’re reading it wrong.
And the english section is seriously just a set of rules you can memorize and get a perfect score.

But if you don’t understand the concepts in the math section, do a basic review. understand the basic concepts on the ACT, and you should be fine.

I would say the math is the hardest… I got 32-34 on english sections and science but a 29 on math (which is usually my best subject, got in the 700s on Math SAT). The ACT math section is challenging, at least for me, because there are many problems where its impossible to figure it out unless you can recall specific formulas etc. unlike the SAT which is more reasoning and logical thinking.

Also in my opinion, the science section is more of a reading comprehension section. You need to have very little scientific knowledge to do well. Just a lot of patience!

The science was definitely the hardest with a 27 on that section but a 30-33 on the rest. I guessed on a lot of them because I was running out of time. For me, it was only hard because I just wasn’t used to the style of the questions not necessarily the difficulty of them. I’m sure more practice would’ve prepared me, but a 31 for the first time was cool with me lol.

My scores were
Math:32
English: 34
Reading:36
Science: 25

Needless to say, science was hardest for me. I realize it’s actually very similar to the reading, but the scientific language makes it much more difficult for me to read and comprehend in such a short period of time. I end up guessing on the last few questions

In my personal opinion, the SAT was much easier and less of a time constraint, and I scored much better. Definitely try out both tests rather than focusing on one

My lowest score was math with a 32, but that’s because I missed almost all of the geometry questions and got all the rest right. I really did have the worst geometry teacher on the planet, and I was already pretty bad at geometry related problems.

I felt like science and reading were the easiest for me, but that was just personal experience.

Math! That was for me but I’m a total english person

Definitely science. Such detailed information, but such little time to read it…

I think English is the hardest section. Its formatting makes it harder than other sections because you are analyzing information as you gather it with the questions being to the side of passage. Also, the wide range of the subject of the questions makes it challenging.

I found the math section to be harder. I forgot a lot about a few formulas, and I never did well in Algebra to begin with.

Math was by far hardest to me, as my K-12 was utter crap in this subject. Spent more days playing Uno or watching movies in Algebra 2 than we did of actual work.

@earlygrad123, you make it sound so easy! do u know where you can find the certain set of rules for the english section? that would be very helpful!

I have not taken the real ACT yet. But I took a practice one (it was a real test from a couple years back) in September.
Reading 32
English 30
Science 26
Math… 20.

I’ve been practicing lots of ACT math though and I joined a harder math class, so I think I will do A LOT better. (:
