Wuthering Heights. Honestly, how can people epitomize it as a romantic novel? It was the most boring book I ever read.

The Greek Way. I just thought it was extremely shallow of Edith Hamilton to think the Greeks were the best at everything. I’m okay with that, but she even went on to bash every other ancient civilization.

I liked Bronte sisters. Wuthering Heights was great to me.
yet Charles Dickens was soooo hard and confusing. I hated it when I had to read A tale of two cities and everyone told me I had to read it. I feel ashamed but did anybody feel that way too?

The Old Man and the Sea would probably be the hardest book I read. It was just so boring. I don’t think I have ever read a slower 100 pages in my life. And I actually enjoyed other books by Hemingway like The Sun also Rises and Farewell to Arms.

I’m surprised that so many people mentioned Jane Eyre. That is easily one of my favorite books. To each his (her) own…

I haven’t read any impossibly hard books that I disliked. The books that I hate were actually really easy to read but simply awful. Forever by Judy Blume and Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld come to mind. I have anit-recommended these books to most people. Luckily my friend agrees with me on Forever. We actually first bonded over our hatred of that book.

Anna Karenina. I chose it for my AP English 12 summerwork so i could get credit for 2 books but only read 1, not realizing how awful it would be. If it were shorter I probably could have suffered through it, but in the end I read about 100 pages and gave up. SparkNotes FTW! either my teacher realized that I didn’t read it and understood or I’m an amazing BS-er because I got an A- on the project : D

Jane Austen and Charles Dickens are my two favourite authors. This is sad, many of the novels listed here are ones I have on my bookshelf and love.
