The Hartt School admission decisions fall 2016

Has anyone heard anything yet from The Hartt a School???

Yes. A student I am working with has been accepted and has received her financial letter also.

My daughter applied regular decision and auditioned on 1/24/16 and we have heard nothing yet

My daughter received her acceptance at Hartt the day after I posted the above!

My daughter just got her acceptance letter with a nice talent scholarship for 4 years! Now on to scheduling a visit to shadow a student for the day! Anyone have any thoughts on their acting program??? So far, my daughter has been admitted to Marymount Manhattan for acting with a mt minor, LIU Post for MT, Hartt and Montclair State for acting. Waitlisted at Emerson for MT.

My daughter is a freshman in the AT program at Hartt and is absolutely in love with it. She graduated from a performing arts high school in NYC and was accepted to 4 college conservatory drama programs, some of which are on your list. She feels extremely engaged and challenged at Hartt. There is no question for her that she made the right choice. We just went to visit her to see their MT production of the musical “Titanic” and I can honestly say it was Broadway quality across the board. Truly amazing. For what its. worth, Playbill that prints all of the playbills for the Broadway theaters did a “college review” about 2 months back rating the top 15 theater programs in the country based on the number of alumni currently working in current Broadway shows. The Hartt School was on that list. None of the other schools on your list were represented as well as several other more well known programs. I’m not trying to “sell you” on Hartt. I’m just sharing our joy that she in such a highly regarded and professional program. As well, in case you were not aware, all the AT students study Shakespeare in London for 10 weeks during their junior year. Hope some of this info helps you. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply! So happy your daughter is doing so well at Hartt! We were very impressed with everything at Hartt- it’s a true conservatory! It’s definitely a top contender. Very impressive re their playbill mention . My daughters traveling in April to shadow a current acting student, so that should be very helpful to her regarding fit. I have 2 concerns- one is social. What is there to do socially in West Hartford??? My girls a city girl.how is campus life???

  1. Other concern is lack of opportunity to participate in the musical. My daughter is a great vocalist, but considers herself an actor who sings. I was told my daughter can not audition for the musical, yet MT students can audition for straight plays. This doesn’t seem quite fair to me. She wants to piece together her music training at college so she doesn’t “lose” the vocal skills she’s worked so hard at. Thinking I could always pay for private voice lessons. Other than those 2 things, she’s excited about Hartt!

Just a followup- I looked into that top 15 list from playbill- it only had Hartt alum for musical theater- as an honorable mention. While that is fantastic- did I miss one for straight acting??? Anyone know??? No luck finding it on playbill- link was old. Maybe someone will have better luck than me.

so has everyone heard from hartt then ? or is anyone still waiting??

We attended accepted students day yesterday. Was anyone else there?

My daughter was in a play in Boston so we couldn’t go! However, I am trying to
schedule an overnight visit during her April vacation where she can shadow a current BFA acting student. Hopefully it will be a great visit! How was accepted students day???

Very busy but great. They left a lot of time for questions and it was a good experience.
