“My alum interview emailed me, saying that my admissions officer had contacted him. She told him that they have spots to be filled and are beginning to consider waitlisted applicants.”

Did your interviewer reveal the approximate number of waitlisted applicants Harvard is planning to take off this year? =)

double legacy, transcript is meh but 2400 SAT. i feel like if i get off the waitlist, it will be via z-list…

I don’t know how indicative this is of the whole country, but I know in the Dallas area that at least half of the admits (~25) turned Harvard down. Dallas probably has more people reject Harvard than other areas of the country, but that’s still only a yield of 50%. Keep hope alive!

Duke is already calling students off their waitlist. I hope some of the increase in apps many colleges have seen is just a tendency for some students to apply to more places and that the top universities admitted many of the same people …

It seems in years past its the first or second business day after May 1st that the article with the yield and waitlist intentions comes out. I need to double check the dates though. So hopefully very soon.
Edit: I apologize. The article was May 8th, a Friday, last year, so it will probably be later next week, not Monday.

Looks like they are looking at the waitlist much earlier this year than last year though, so the numbers + admits could come along sooner than we think.

I certainly hope you’re right about that. A low yield would be a great sign and the earlier they’re doing this, the more certain they are that there will be a low yield.

Yeah, I think it is about a couple hundred kids. It is fairly logical. The only concrete component to this baffling puzzle that we all need is information to compare and contrast the yields. Right?
