You got it. It does seem from people I have talked to the yield may be a little lower this year, at least around Northern NJ. People are choosing Princeton and MIT over Harvard left and right.

^really? That’s good because I’ve been hearing more about Stanford and Yale over Harvard. I guess Harvard’s losing people to a whole bunch of really good schools this year.

That does seem good.

Yeah, it does seem like a strange turn of events. There is actually a thread on here that says “who else turned Harvard down”. Hmmmm…

Hopefully we’ll know more in about a week. Everyone remember to send in deposits elsewhere in the meantime?

just sent my deposit to another school a few days ago–does it have to be processed by may 1 or am i okay because it was mailed by the deadline?

Sending it so its postmarked by May 1st is fine for everywhere I know. Where’d you send it?

Keep your hopes up guys! Lots of people have their own reasons for not choosing Harvard, especially this year. Good Luck!!

Ackkk, do you guys think that it’s too late to send in a letter updating the admissions office on a few things? I put up a post…plumazel replied (thank you!), but I would appreciate having more feedback so I hope that you guys can help

@ Daffodils
IMO it’s never too late to send in updates until they officially tell us they are not taking anymore off the waitlist.
In fact, as the adcoms are going to dig into the waitlist any moment now, wouldn’t it be nice that you make a fresh impression by sending it now?

^Agreed. I think that sending something in around the beginning of May is never a bad idea.

Just try to get it in ASAP because the first round of deliberations starts pretty soon. They will certainly regard your letter if you send it in now.

there are 1032 on the fb page as of this morning.

Well this and tomorrow are the days to decide. So people are running out of time. I feel many people wait until the last possible moment to make a decision however.

Thanks for the update, simplywaiting.

What was the number of people in the Class of 2013 Harvard facebook group at this exact time/date?

For reference, the final number of Class of 2013 FB members (from cicero’s old post) was 1525. And the class of 2012 is 1675.

Sign me,
obsessed :)

My counselor spoke to our Harvard admissions rep, and they’re not looking to take anyone off the waitlist until after May 15. They’re going back in to committee on Monday, and will start to make decisions on applications. They may also do another round of offers in early June if the yield on their initial offers isn’t what they had hoped.

Here’s hoping,
Matt

Okay so let me see if I understood correctly: The admissions committee is going to deliberate starting Monday but will not make calls and send letters until after May 15th?

Wow…so this will just be as drawn out as last year. I just want it to be over with so I can officially know where I’m going to school.

Keep your head up, Cicero. Some people I think were called earlier than May 15 last year. I think Fitzsimmons stated in the article from last year that some people would be hearing as early as May 8th and then the later days like the 11th, 12th, so on and so forth.

My daughter go an email from her Regional Rep this afternoon. SHe had sent her updated activities and information regarding her second half of the school year. She told her she would taking it back to the committee and thanks for the new information.
