Also, to add to the growing list: if I ended up going to Harvard, my Vandy panerphernalia would be of no use. Well, it could be, but not for the purposes if showing school pride.

@Ancalagon: yeah, grad school is what really matters anyway. Get good grades and scores in college, and hopefully we will all be successful with the grad admissions (maybe we will all see each other someday at HMS, HLS, HBS, or whatever field you pursue). I hope WLs don’t exist for that though…

@Ancalagon: Haha, I’m the exact opposite. As much as I want a resolution, there is the downside that once I get rejected I am going to have to stop using my Harvard paraphernalia. Which really sucks because my Harvard sweatshirt is really nice and I lost my school laniard months ago. And I have absolutely no paraphernalia from the school I am matriculating at yet, or from any school’s besides Harvard lol

One of the recruited athletes from my school got in. Kind of disappointed, because if he got in and knows, that means I most likely am rejected.
Happy for him though.

I was totally fine going to Penn. I was trying to plan out a schedule, sort out my future life, etc, and then this whole Harvard business started. I hadn’t even thought of Harvard much since receiving the waitlist notification, I just assumed I wouldn’t get in -Penn was my only concern. Now that people are talking about it and the date is… so slowly approaching, it’s all I can think about! It’s horrendous.
@Boggler: Which school at Penn are you going to? Have you applied for housing?

I’m going to Penn too! It was never even close to my top choice and I didn’t really research it or visit, so I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s definitely a great school, and I know it’ll be great, but I’m not that excited.

Harvard is still my top choice, but even if I don’t get in, I’d like to know already!

The salutatorian at my school got into Harvard as a Civil Engineer major and according to a website giving rankings of the top 86 colleges in Civil Engineering, Harvard is no where to be seen. I indicated my major to be Physics and the same website somehow says that Harvard is number one. Anyways I am pretty sure if you go with a major that is unpopular, you have a good shot of getting in.

How about you Noaflora? Which school and have you applied for housing?
I’m excited for Penn, you’ll enjoy it if you end up there, but I’m with you, Harvard is my #1!

Harvard #1 for evaaah

I’m in the college, planning to study math and Chinese. Yup, I did apply for housing since they said its better to do that by May 1st. You?

@bell: I’m in the CAS, and I applied for the Quad, which I’m not sure I will get in.

@noaflora: I’m kind of like you. I hadn’t really researched Penn too much; not because I expected to go somewhere else, but because I was too enamored by other schools (HYS of course, but also Notre Dame and WashU). But once I had to decide among those I had, I researched Penn and went to one of their Preview Days, and I’m really excited about Penn next year.

But…Harvard is still my first choice. And not because of the name, for all you cynics. I genuinely like the undergraduate system, including the often despised individualistic nature of the experience. But all shall be known tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL. OTHER THAN YOU ■■■■■■, YOU DEFINITELY DESERVE IT!! After all, Harvard chose to put you on their WL, so they must consider you a pretty decent fit for attending.

I hope nobody gets on me for this, but if I get in off the Waitlist, its probably going to mean another spot for the second wave.

I would never say that there’s no way I’d take their offer…but there’s pretty much no way I’d take it. Truthfully, my parents just insisted I stay on the list to see if I could get in. I doubt I’ll take a first wave slot from you guys, though, as I didn’t send anything additional.

@MSauce: for your sake and all ours, I also hope you don’t get off tomorrow. (Wow, that sounded really jerkish of me…). Have a great time at Yale!

No worries. It would be nice to be accepted, but whatever. My mom already ordered cookies with little bulldog faces on them for my grad party. So pretty much, its too late to turn back now ;)

Haha, I guess a bulldog is more fitting for cookies than a seventeenth-century preacher’s head. Or I guess you could have a red H, which is still kind of boring…

Reasons not to get accepted to Harvard (I think we’ve reached number 1):
- Can’t have cool-looking cookies at graduation party.

Listen you guys, you are fine where you have committed. Are you sure you want Harvard? I mean, especially if you are already in at Cornell, Yale, Princeton or other top schools? I only ask that because my D (she has left this website because it made her too crazy) was rejected at Cornell and waitlisted Harvard and Brown. We’ve given up on Ivy Leagues, mainly because she is from a struggling public school in Cal, but the best in a bad district. She’ll be overlooked, despite a 4.4 GPA, lots of ECs and a 2400 SAT. So you are all fantastic, and if you really want Harvard, I hope you get in. But there is so much more out there!

I guess I’ll grab the leet post to say that, after enough vacillation to do Macbeth proud, although I’m at peace with whatever happens, a call from Harvard would fill my world with enough happiness to last until college begins.

Speaking of Cornell, would you guys on this board rather go to Cornell or Duke? I’m on the waitlist and while I wait, I need to pick one out of these two. What do you all think?

narendly: Both great schools but very different ( northern/liberal/wintery/rural vs. southern/conservative/warmer/urban to name a few). From a quality of education or career impact point of view, it’s hard to choose between them. Cornell may have a very slight brand edge because of the Ivy connection, but that would be more true in New York than Atlanta. It’s a little like choosing between chocolate and butter pecan. Both great flavors, but you’ll be happier if you pick the one you like.

Have you visited both? Which feels more like you?

AHHHHH TOMORROW IS THE DAY! I just want to know so I can get closure on this whole process finally.

PS: I decided to go to Yale over Princeton for the list
