:) compscifan what’s your decision?

Congrats ani! I am waiting to get home and open a package which my mom says arrived today. So excited! She sounded happy though.

ani, I got waitlisted at CIT and didn’t apply to SCS …
BTW, I know that chances of getting off the waitlist at SCS and CIT ECE are like really slim but still, do you guys have an idea/stats/anything how difficult it might be?
I don’t want to keep my hopes very high with this waitlist and then get rejected eventually …

Okay. Just received my package. Cost of attendance for first year inc of everything is $57,520

I am strongly considering not attending. lets see

Are you full-pay? (Sorry if this is a personal question - you don’t have to answer) My parents tell me not to worry about finances but I am surely going to consider it. Do you have any cheaper offers?

I am full pay… They don’t offer aid to internationals :(

Life sucks.

congrats guys :)

Jai Hind!!

@ college beckons and desperado - are you Indian or US citizens?

Congrats everyone who got into CMU!! It’s an awesome place. I wish I applied too. Well done! :D

@Violator, I can empathize with you, man. s h i t happens.
Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about this. :)

Carnegie Mellon!
CIT (ECE) - Accepted
SCS - Waitlisted

Waitlisted to CIT(ECE). Didn’t apply to SCS.

What does priority waitlist mean guys? I just see ‘waitlist’ written on my decision box. I also read somewhere that those who apply to just one school are into the priority waitlist. Can anybody shed some more light on this.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Ok, one by one… I have to be VERY thrifty with my posts now na… :)

First of all, Hi! I am Namrata Narain. I live in Jaipur and am wholly Desi! I have posted my stats somewhere or the other… on thread #19 I guess but I can totally post them again considering I am completely jobless, I love cc, and I love you aaaaaalllllll.

I am going to answer everything randomly now!!!
I am full pay at CMU too… and $57,000 is HUGEEE. So, I am declining UCLA, UCDavis, UCSan Diego and UChicago by about, erm, 5th of april?

And, violator, would you have gone to CMU even if you’d been accepted? Assuming you are Indian and hence an international, even that much would have been a huge sum to pay… sorry If i am assuming to much. :)

aniruddh, after receiving the TATA thingijumbsy, I have COMPLETELY stopped studying for IIT… and, to think, I had been sweating after it for 2 years. Jeez. Money makes people go MAD. LOL. I AM SO HAPPY. Honestly, I couldn’t have paid 1.2crore rupees for a single degree. Now, I don’t even have to pay for my air-fair. God has been very kind.

see, not even 100 ghante are left for HYPDC… so, let’s make a pact and be as stressed and hyper and excited that we can… Imagine, after that, no more tension, no more you, no more me… AND NO MORE CC. i can’t say I’ll miss cc much… this damned thing gave me heart aches when I was applying… but now, i have found you people and I am lovinggggggggggggg it! :).

Guys, seriously, are we going to go… ZAPPPP after this process gets over? lets preserve identities only till 30th… after that, sachai! facebook will of course help!

SO, peepli, BESTTT OF LUCKKK! And, all you selfish people out there, I think the time has come to start DECLINING acceptances to various universities NO MATTER HOW YOUR HEART BURNSSSS!!! Till then, i’ll go study because my mom/dad will come any second and bust me and kill me and hang me and let my dog devour me. WHY i should study, i don’t know anymore so DONT ask. :X

Till the next time I feel like wasting a post…!!
SEEYA.

@Violator… Indian through and through!

@collegebeckons… You are seriously the liveliest person ever.Ah, happiness is infectious!

Congrats people who got accepted to CMU and hugs to the waitlistees. Is it just me or is every Indian on CC applying to CMU? Congrats collegebeckons! I am glad you are so excited and chipper. But don’t say that there will be no more CC after four days! We have to keep in touch and keep coming back here. We still have so much to talk about - the excitement of choosing a college, the heartbreak of leaving home, settling in, etc. etc. It will be nice to have a support group for all that. After all, the journey is just beginning. I am kind of sad that the admissions process is getting over though. And I kind of wish I had applied somewhere and gotten lots of merit money because my heart burns to make my parents pay so much. … especially when I have an offer which is 1/2 my current school fees. Decision time will be hard!

Ani, I am sure you have changed your mind about stereotyping people who type in a certain way.
Oh non non. Count me out of this pact.

Congrats to all CMU people!

Errr, I posted this message on the Class of 2015 Results thread, but I’ll post it here too, since I’m sort of desperate here :P

If anyone has an idea of CMU’s past waitlist acceptance rates, please let me know. My cousin got waitlisted from SCS, and he’s eating my head now (aarrgh)

Priority waitlist information comes in mid-May. They accept around 110 students from the waitlist. And actually tbh for me, ECE is an equally good option. Why? Because I was confused as whether I should declare ECE or CS as my intended major. It was more like 60-40 so I declared CS everywhere. I am perfectly happy with ECE any which way. IMO it provides the same opportunities that a CS grad has. That being said, I’ll obviously go with CS if I get it.

Wow, he most certainly has! Congrats again! My sister and broinlaw are from Cornell and they loved it! Cornell family, pretty much, yes :P

I completely agree with beckons’ and puttu’s post! I’ll decrease my CC activity for sure, atleast after decisions, and then completely stop (almost completely) after I enter college

And beckons, stop studying for IIT man :P

Count me out of stressing too. This week is already set up to be an emotional roller coaster since it’s the last week of school. sniff

Glad you like ECE ani (although I have already forgotten what that means!). I never had a dream school throughout this process and that really helped me keep my sanity.

So you guys agree that we should keep in touch through FB, if we want?

Oh and btw, I might be joining you engineering-people because I GOT INTO SWARTHMORE TODAY!!!

You got Swarthmore? Congrats!
Did you get your package today? They aren’t putting the decision online AFAIK.

Yep, I got my package today. Did you apply? I really can’t believe I got in. Someone else from my school applied and got in ED so I’m surprised that they accepted me too. So now only 4 decisions left…
