Sorry for dropping off the radar. Got hung up creating a video to submit for the TEDx at University of Delhi.

UCB at 1:30 AM tonight, I think.

And hi to mysticgoahn and gfxlabzz

And yes, I’m doing a series on US admissions on my blog. But right now, I’m covering the basics, so that the poor souls who approach me with basic questions have a decent repository of information without me parroting it repeatedly. I’ll go indepth and college-wise later. Again, the series has been on hold for a while. Will be covering standardized testing later.

Also, got a letter from ETS that some of my TOEFL score reports, which were supposed to be sent on 3 Jan, got sent on 3 March. It’s a good thing I faxed/mailed all colleges a copy of my official score report when I realized something was amiss a few weeks ago. Pretty irresponsible of ETS. But they “say” they’ve personally contacted each college to make sure my reports reached this time. Dunno if I should believe them.

Get a refund for all your score sending fees dude.

Hmm…maybe so. I’ve got some spare time. Let me shoot off a nasty letter to them. For some reason their toll-free number isn’t working eter from landline, or from a mobil.

For everyone who applied to ** Carnegie Mellon University: **

They’re mailing out decision letters today and if you opted for UPS delivery like I did, you’ll most probably get a credit verification thing from the bank. Please let us all know the cost that was charged to your credit card. They charge way less for rejection since its a lighter and smaller envelope. Thus, we can compare our decisions and obviously everyone in one cost range will be accepted and everyone in the other cost range will be rejected.
And then we can go on the UPS website to see how much weight can be sent from USA to India for that amount. So, in effect, we’re pretty much getting our CMU decisions today as well.

I didn’t bother with UPS. Best of luck to you guys. I’ll wait another 3 days and get it on the online tracker.

They’ll only charge something like $20 right? I hope… That’s the cost my parents agreed to. Otherwise I’m screwed.

Wasn’t entirely comfortabe sending my Dad’s credit card info via paper mail.

ani - the one day(takes about three days in actuality with customs and what not) shipping costs 60$ and the 5 days one is 35$.
BTW, this is the DHL price. Don’t know about UPS.

Big day for you then. Berkeley and CMU :)

Ssup technut! Oh and are you saying CMU decisions are out 3 days later online but they;re sending in the packages today? Doesnt seem to make much sense that they cant post it online when they’re sending the package >.<

I thought DHL is like ~20$. That’s the amount the chap charged me for applications.
Good luck guys! :)

@mysticgohan - They prefer that applicants read it on paper rather than on a display. So they expect most domestic applicants to get their paper decisions by then. Not the same story for me.

Wow thats odd >.< Anyway thanks for the info. Is there any specific time 3 days later when it will be posted online?

No clue on that

You waiting for Berkeley also?

Not if the entries on CalNet were an indicator of things to come. :|

perfectpixie - really?? 20 bucks, thats it??
I live in Dubai and the person charged me 220 dirhams. The exchange rate is 1 USD = 3.67 Dirhams. Thats like 61$.
Ripped off

^Yeah! Anything below 500 gms is a little more than 20 bucks. I’m surprised how it’s so expensive in Dubai.
Btw, if you’re from Dubai, do you know AK?
(not using the full name)

CalNet is the common UC portal? What happened? Sorry if im being a little ignorant :(

No. Berkeley’s online people directory. ~16000 names got realeased on it. Were from this years applcant pool. Lots of speulation on that.
