The "I'm going to be the stupidest kid at Cornell" feeling

OP, based off your choice in making this thread, I think your feelings might have some truth to them.

hahaha shut up
this is a joke

actually we all did shut up about it a week ago…

I don’t think the OP was trying to be inflammatory. I really believe there are many 18 year olds who get accepted to college every year and question their acceptance. When I look back on my own kids acceptances I could remember sensing an underlying feeling of what if admissions made a mistake. I think 18 year olds just need to know that they are not alone, and that there are others who are feeling a bit insecure. Kindness goes a long way as does affirmation of someones feelings.

To the OP: You will be fine as long as you don’t rest on your past achievements. You were selected by admissions because they are sure that you could succeed at Cornell. Remember to start out strong with good work habits and remember that your four years will go by very quickly…so have fun. You will remember the great times and cherish those days long after the text books have closed. Take advantage of the amazing opportunities to explore the academic and non academic opportunities available to you. I am a parent of two Cornellians and they are both graduating next year. I am so grateful for these past few years because Cornell has become a very special place to all of us.

I wish i was the stupidest kid at cornell. i’d still be smarter than most of the world!! you’ll do fine.
