Waiting to hear if I get into Cornell is sooo nerve racking...

I will know tomorrow, but one kid that I thought had ZERO chance of getting in found out he was accepted yesterday to Arts and Sciences. He had lower SAT scores than me (a 2000 on the new scale, probably no more than a 1300 old scale), lower average (3.7-3.8 unweighted), took two APs his entire career (APUS/ APWorld), was in remedial math, was a year behind in foreign language, no sports, few extracurriculars, ect, ect. He never even visited Cornell or had an interview... He told me his dad "saved someone involved with admissions life." [/rant]

Anyway, that should make me feel better knowing someone who is completely unqualified got in, but right now it just makes me mad. I will officially know tomorrow at 5 unless I get a written letter sooner.

BTW, does Cornell have any form of Early Action?

I found out that this kid got in because his father is a doctor and saved one of the board member's life...

well good for him. Don't worry about one kid out of several thousand. It's not going to affect your decision. All schools do things like that. I know a kid that will get in easy to UPenn because his mom is a dean of one of the schools. He is not necessarily the brightest bulb, but stuff like that is going to happen now and later in life. It's best just to not think about it.

I guess that is true.

S*** happens...it doesn't have to do with you really. best to ignore it.

Look at it this way...people who get in and aren't qualified will lower the curve in your classes...and thus give you a higher grade...it evens out in the end :).

this is assuming I get in too :)

i wish we already knew if we got in......ahhh i want to know so badly!

maybe they respect his effort, since he was behind in classes and still did well?

You mean you're nervous????? I can't relate at all.
