woa, is that really true that there's people rejected already?
i know a couple of peeps from my school with bad grades and they haven't got anything lol

No rejections will be sent out until the end of March. All acceptances are mailed before or with the rejections.

According to admissions, all acceptance letters are mailed before rejections are sent out.

I've been on the "being reviewed" status since 2/11. I was not asked for mid-term grades. Is this more of a bad thing? DOes it mean I was totally rejected...or does this mean I'm totally accepted? I don't think there is a way to know.....but i know that its probably either/or! ahh! If anybody has some information that might be helpful please be generous. :]

^^me too, pinkellow, except I went into review on 2/13. also was not asked for grades. I have no idea what it means.

Cheerchick and pinkellow, did you apply for scholarship? Because when my D got her letter telling her she didn't qualify, at the very end of the letter she was asked to submit her midyears.

elizabethh-I did not apply for a scholarship. I applied on the regular date, January 10th.

I applied before the scholarship deadline. I never received the formal letter/email/status change asking for them. I did send them in myself though, as the no-scholarship letter instructed.

i applied before the scholarship deadline too. i got the no scholarship letter but my mid year grades were requested... they never told me they received my transcript though. my status still says "your app is being reviewed by the admission committee.. by april 1"
since 2/7!!

My D has been in "Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th" since 2/7. Fingers crossed. And she got the letter about the scholarship/request for grades after that - it was dated 2/12.

Please don't worry too much - my status shows "Your application is being reviewed by the admissions......" as well, and I was accepted in January. There are thousands of acceptances yet to come.

i got that letter telling me i didn't get the scholarship too, elizabethh. is that considered a "request for midyear grades"? i never really read past the first line i guess, but i thnk they mailed out separate letters requesting mid-year grades. plus my status never changed to "we have received your mid years"

Coincidentally, right before D received the letter, D had emailed and I had called our adcom regarding the midyears. When adcom called me she said at the bottom of the status page (as we all know) it says you can send in your mid year grades anytime whether requested or not. SHE made it sound like it was a given that all students should send them, which I was a little surprised to hear, but I guess that if given the option to give information, admissions would want to have that info. This is just speculation of course.

mine doesnt even say its being reviewed it says " We are unable to process the status of your application at this time. Please try again later, or Contact Us with any questions or concerns you might have."

My daughter's admissions counselor told her that he was happy that she had sent her midyear grades in without having to be asked. His comment was that having the grades on hand "saved time" in her review.

jackfitz, looks like they are updating your status

Status last updated: 3/13/2008 11:40:29 AM

hi, i recently checked my status and it was last updated on 3/12/2008. last week, my friend had her status updated on 3/5/2008 and received an email from DHL (express mail) on the coming friday (3/7/2008) saying that she had a package from USC.

i dont live in the U.S. so it's Friday night for me right now..and since i didn't get an email from DHL, does that mean i got rejected?

thestressball

first of all...
according to the theory...you should only be receiving your package after the 28th in the last and biggest wave. If you have read the posts you would've seen that the people whose statuses were updated earlier (early march and late feb) are the ones most likely to be hearing from USC on friday.

Second of all, it is not friday in the states...or it's just being friday....but when USC means they're sending packages on friday...they mean they're timezone friday, not yours.

They're not santa claus you know, where he can deliver everything apparently on christmas eve....regardless of what timezone you live in

no need for sarcasm, lynn.

i was just worrying because my friend who lives where i live (internationally) received an email from DHL ON friday (my friday, not the states' friday) saying that she got a package from USC. her status was only updated two days earlier, thats why i assumed that it could be possible that they would be sending my decision on 3/14.

but anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me.

btw, it's "their" timezone, not "they're"
