The Indian Thread #19

Haha. Interviews.

Don’t even get me started on some of my interviews for high school. I was such a dunce. I still managed to get into some of the best schools in NYC though. I guess they saw they saw that I had something going for myself.

Wow Eton on a scholarship. It must be pretty incredible.
On a side note, an Eton Mess is so good.

I actually thinking about Swarthmore earlier today! Weird!

Haha, oh the U.S. What schools did you attend here?

The other two countries have to be at least one of these on this list:
Switzerland
Scotland
Australia
India
Canada
Ireland
New Zealand
Russia

I KNOW! :D

I didn’t know that you could get it in Belgium though. :O

Haha I don’t think you do. British people make it here. I’ve made it once too with Nigella Lawson’s recipe. Worked out pretty well, considering I have no culinary skills whatsoever.
And jbubbs, what made you come up with those countries specifically?

An Eton Mess looks really good.

I want to try one!

Swat FTW! They came over to Delhi a few days back and I fell in love with Swat. I’m definitely applying there mainly for the same reason you listed. Seems like college fairs do have an effect.

[Eton Mess Recipe : Nigella Lawson : Food Network](http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/nigella-lawson/eton-mess-recipe/index.html)

I’m going to try making one this Wednesday.

You can PM me if you want to know. I don’t feel comfortable writing it here.

Yes, Swat seems absolutely amazing. Great LAC reputation with a highly intellectual atmosphere and in a decent enough location. The other ones are either in the middle of nowhere or too homogenous.

Where else are you applying PrincetonDreams(if you feel comfortable divulging the details)?
I wouldn’t have thought you were looking at LAC’s since you’re going into IB? Stanford and Swat are great but they aren’t really similar are they?
Philly is beeyutiful :)

Wow. You must be a fairly talented chef!

I can’t even make Daal.

True. I really liked Williams’ essay prompt. I had a pretty creative answer that reflected my life in general. Too bad it was too preppy/homogenous/too small of a town for me.

Daal is ****s complicated. I don’t even dare attempt it lest I burn down the kitchen.
An Eton Mess is way simpler though. Seriously.

So, I’m on my friend’s naviance who goes to Bronx Sciene (2nd best Public school in NY) and someone got into Swat with an 89 GPA, 1870 SAT, and 25 ACT. I have no idea if that was one person or 3 different people.

Wow.

Haha, neither can I. I usually end up doing something wrong. I’ll take a picture of the end result of my attempt.

My mom’s always complaining about how no one will want to marry me because I can’t cook. I’m barely 16. -_-

I can make Tea and maggi!
But anyone can cook if they wish to.
If I follow the instructions carefully, any unknown dish comes out quite well too. But the last time I stepped into the kitchen too cook something other than the above two was when I had “Meal Planning” in 8th standard. I remember laughing my head off when we discovered that there were more boys than girls in the class. Apparently they had found out that the class involved the teacher making scrumptious delicacies with us helping her out and at the end we all got some to eat :D

Right?! Somehow my younger relatives who also live away from home can make it very easily. I feel so incompetent in comparison.

My mom makes daal every single damn day.

Daal is made everyda in every indian’s home.

Blah.

Here’s what I can make-

 1. Toast
 2. Toast with butter/peanut butter/nutella
 3. Microwave popcorn
 4. Umm… That’s all :|

Wow this thread seems to grow at ginormic rates.

I can cook! Though not Indian food. Weird, I know.

I’m applying to swarthmore! Had my interview already. I love that school. The atmosphere, the campus, the location. If I don’t make it to one of the bigger universities, I really want to go to swarthmore. Not to mention their interesting courses.

And, what is with all the boy talk? On CC? I’m a girl (If you hadn’t figured it out :stuck_out_tongue: ) so I don’t mind, but stilllll. Oh and I can’t resist asking- bubbles, your criteria for a boy isn’t his intelligence or charm or wit or personality or even looks but his ENGLISH ACCENT?

Swarthmore is my most favorite LAC. I really liked the place and people over there.
