The insomniacs thread- chat here when you are up in the middle of the night!

I made it to 6 am. Miracle. With so much going on and the emergency flight scheduled across country, I am amazed I slept at all

Didn’t get to bed until 1 am since we’re leaving for Europe today. Woke up at 5:42. Annoyed at my husband for forgetting to close the blinds - the deal is that if he opens them during the day, he’s responsible to close them at night. The sun streams in and wakes me up. :frowning:

Safe travels and enjoy!!!

Is it insomnia if you’re watching the World Cup?

No, especially not if you are cheering!

2am can’t sleep…not my usual pattern!

1 a.m. and wide awake here. I was just about to fall asleep about 10:30 when a text group of four friends went into high gear with dicey family news and that got me all agitated. So here I am watching soccer again.

ETA: Whoa, South Africa just scored so maybe this was worth it!

Oh, moar soccer!

Have been up virtually every night since becoming synagogue president til at least 2 am. I didn’t run for this position. It has been one serious crisis after another, and no end in sight.

So do I sleep or go sew for a while, which is my go-to stressbuster?

I was trying to fall asleep early so that maybe I could time a bathroom urge with the Netherlands/Portugal game as we’ll play them next week, but now I’ll probs sleep right through that game. Booooo! If you stay up, watch soccer and let me know how the competition looks!

ugh still up

I need that brain shutoff switch that my body has always been missing!

Me, too

Up w my mom at 3:30am because she is wheezing and coughing but she “isn’t sick” which switches quickly to “I woke you up” and then “I should just die”. Got her some water, tucked her back in, came back to bed and made an urgent care booking for later this morning. (We’ll be a pretty pair by then)

My SiL is in chemo, my dad’s in hospice, so I told her she has to stop fooling around and find out if she is contagious or just got pneumonia again. Honestly, the stubborness about the dumbest things, as if going to a doctor admits some profound moral failure…

I am across country with a 3 hr time difference so my body clock is all messed up. Only good news- I am exhausted from watching the grandkids!

We’re still trying to adjust to the six hour time difference! It’s hard to go to bed at a decent hour especially when it stays light until 9 pm. DH woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t go back to sleep.

Up at 3am with my mom, who now has meds for the wheezing and coughing but had opted to wander around the house making lists of things we need to do so I put her back to bed, told her to stay there whether she was sleeping or not, and am reading on the living room couch bc I know she knows I am out here. Like raising toddlers…

Up at 5 a.m. because someone was outside my bedroom window with a flashlight. Naturally, I jumped out of bed and turned on an outside light to scare them. Then I went to wake up dh to tell him about the would-be intruder. Turns out it WAS dh, wanting to get a jump on watering while it’s cool. I am too furious and full of adrenaline to fall back asleep. I predict a bad morning for both of us.

Temporary solution to insomnia- babysit for 2 young grandkids who wake up very early and are very high energy
