The Johnson Scholarship Program

Small schools tend to waitlist applicants who don't seem to be really interested in the school, they don't want to be used as a backup. That could be the case with your d. Had she visited campus and done an interview previously?

Can some help me too? I have no idea what my chances are of getting this scholarship.
My Stats:

White female from PA
34 ACT
No SAT or SAT IIs
3.95 unweighted (one B+ in early math)
Top 10% but no ranking
President of Student Council
Captain Cross Country, Captain Indoor Track, Captain Outdoor Track
Sports Section Editor of the Yearbook
Various Clubs
200 hours of community service with church
Summer job and part time job waitressing 20hrs/wk

Also, if I would be a Washington and Lee athlete would that help scholarship chances? or is it only academics and leadership... THANKS!

Oh, in addition to my last post:
Senior Schedule: AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Physics, History H, English H, AP French Literature, and Advanced French at Swarthmore College

0% chance of admission.
WnL requires two SAT IIs for admission.

well i actually did take SAT IIs but I wasn't planning on sending them because theyre not very good. I got a 710 in math and a 690 in french. does that help?

For those that have been through the scholarship program before. If the dates listed for the scholarship competition this year are from March 3rd to March 5th 2009. Do they expect students to arrive on the 3rd or arrive on the 2nd with the competition beginning on the third?

most likely you'll get there on the 3rd. Last year we all arrived at various times that Tuesday.

I would have to say that "0% chance of admission" is not true. You can take (and submit) the SAT II after submitting your application. Just make sure you call them and let them know in advance that the score is on the way.

Are there any other Class of 2013 applicants here? If so, when do you think we will be notified?

Yea Czech, I applied for the class of 2013 and the Johnson program. In the online newsletter that was sent out, I think it said the decisions would come out in late January.

I applied too, but I have not received any information after Dec 15th :(

after u guys sent in ur johnson scholarship applications, did you ever receive an e-mail or any sort of confirmation? cuz im pretty sure i never did =/

no i never got anything about it i dont think. it said that they were looking at the applications on this past friday. do the notifications come by USPS or FedEx or something like that.

i have to be a finalist first for this to even apply, but is it true that all finalists receive at least some merit $?

I actually sent an email asking if my app was complete because I had never gotten a confirmation all my materials had been received. I got a reply saying only those whose apps was NOT complete got an email.

Anyone hear anything yet??? I'm dying to know....

I called the admissions office to inquire about my application materials after I had submitted everything.

I am dying to know, as well. Last year, the applicants received their decisions on Monday, January 28, so perhaps we will receive our decisions on Monday.

good thinking! I hope you're right

ohhh i hope sooo!!!!
