@ManVan Isn’t this your second son to go through the MT BFA admissions process? If I recall correctly…whew.
We got a no from Rider. Letter in the mail, but also on the portal.
@momma2four sorry to hear that. I got the same.
@rocsocks From rider we got a redirect to the BA Theatre Arts. We found out on the portal. There’s supposed to be a letter coming, but we haven’t seen it. From Northern Colorado we got an accept, first by email, then a letter in the mail. From Montclair we haven’t heard anything. I think they notify by mail, and that the mail is coming soon.
@ABMT16 Same here. Sometimes it says “under review”, and then random times of day “no data available” or something like that and you can’t even get to the spot where you check . Weird.
@Tahuna Congrats on the NorthernColorado acceptance. My D was just saying that if she were to take the artistic acceptance thing out of the picture and just go to one of her academic acceptances, she’d probably choose there. It just looks like a cool school.
Hi! Any input as to whether one rejection is an indicator of many to come? I was rejected from my top choice, NYU, and am now very worried that this means I will be stuck with no acceptances since many of the same students audition at the same schools!
@KH1255 Absolutely not. Sorry to hear about NYU, but every school has different adjudicators and ideas of what they want. Keep your head up, you’ll be fine!
Thanks so much for your encouragement! @ABMT16
@KH1255 - as already said above, every school is looking for something different. We have been surprised watching many kids go through this as to who is accepted, rejected, redirected, etc, from the same schools! And then another school will have totally different results with the same kids.
Have faith it will work out for you. My own daughter’s top choice was an early rejection (mid auditions) and she became convinced she wouldn’t get in anyplace. A few weeks later and she already has good choices that she is excited about and is still waiting on others. You will be ok. You only need one acceptance.
As you spend time reading these threads-- from this year and previous years-- you’ll see that each student has a very unpredictable path to acceptance: “No” comes from schools where your audition went “great”; “yes” comes from a school where you thought it went badly. And no two kids have the same experience. Plenty of those NYU-accepted kids will be rejected at places you’ll be accepted. There are just so many variables at play that it seems that one result at one school has absolutely no relation to a result at a different school. Keep positive. I know it’s really really tough.
Not at all @KH1255! Each school is looking for the right mix of students to round out their program. It’s not a talent evaluation so much as a try out to see if you’re a good fit–what they’re looking for at that time. Every school needs something different. Stay focused and positive, if you can. No doubt this is a really really tough process. Wishing you all the best.
I thought NYU would be releasing the results at th end of March. Well, the earlier the better
I think KH1255 might have applied ED to NYU - they have not released their RD decisions
Anyone heard from Muhlenberg yet?
Yes. With one more to go. Out of 4 boys we got three actors and a guitar-player/audio-engineer/rock-star. Go figure…
Haven’t heard from Muhlenberg here.
@ManVan , that’s awesome! (My son is planning on going for guitar/audio-engineer/MBET; I’d love to hear any advice in a PM if you have any!)
Southern Methodist is posting admission decisions today at 7 according to the email my D received…fingers crossed
@craz4mtsmom --Will SMU be both decisions (academic and arts?). My daughter actually knows about the arts part already and is waiting on the academic piece (backwards!). It is only b/c she auditioned during a state thescon and hadn’t planned to apply - but liked them at thescon so she applied after she auditioned.
Additionally, do you know if any financial info will be posted tonight?
So it’s officially a no from Rider. I had already mentally written them off after this weird hold they had me on, so it’s not too big of a blow. Was really hoping to hear from TCU, yet I haven’t.
