I am seeing lots of numbers of calls, number of girls/boys, etc. re Elon offers. It would be helpful for those still waiting to know where this data is coming from and how reliable it is.
My daughter just got an email rejection from Elon. I’m guessing everyone will know soon.
Unfortunately my D was rejected from Elon, too! Bummer! Such a nice school!
ditto!
UGH - I hate this process. Just had to throw that out there. Congrats to everyone who got into Elon - a lovely school indeed! Four more to go for us - another yes, would be nice. Glad my D is holding up better than I am.
We’re waiting for three more - and I’m so tempted to just forget about them, call it “done”, and go with the acceptances we have. But I guess we can wait just a few more weeks…
does anyone know anything about Miami???
nothing yet!!! ugh
D was also rejected from Elon. It was, along with Michigan, her dream school. This is, however, a classic teachable moment and a metaphor for what lies ahead. We as parents and our kids are all beleaguered by this process, and yet it’s a worthwhile barometer of how our kids will handle the serial rejections that will come in the real MT world. Our kids overall have heard and seen more yeses than nos through the years and now the tables turn for good. They will frequently be made to feel pedestrian despite their considerable talent, ambition and unmatched passion for what they do. In the end it’s how they get up every time they’re knocked to the floor that counts most. I hope, know and trust that each of our kids will land in a place where they will spend four years growing, thriving and discovering their artistic voice. But for so many of us, and for our kids, today seems to represent a point distant in time, space and emotion from that destination.
@Lawfang It will happen. Your children will look back quickly and wonder why this was even an issue. Two years later my daughter is thriving at her safety (after all but one auditioned school rejected her). Mainstage leading roles, playwriting awards, writing fellowships, stage managing gigs and more have been her experiences and she couldn’t be happier. Hang in there everyone…it does get better. <3
@Lawfang Sorry to hear! I know that stinks a lot. It’s amazing how much rejection happens in the MT world before it even becomes professional, and most people will never know!
@Lawfang , do you mind me asking where your D is? Those are the kind of non-performing experiences my D would love!
@Lawfang thanks, I needed that today. My D also was rejected from her top choice today, after weeks of being in limbo when other kids had heard back. Despite the fact that she has two really good options, she’s not hearing that today. So I’m giving her time to vent and feel bad, and when she’s ready to deal with the reality of her choices we’ll do that together. Hopefully, like many kids across many majors, she’ll wind up loving where she goes. Let’s face it, if your kids are anything like mine, they’re drawing conclusions based on very little facts. She hasn’t visited some of the schools on her list, and hasn’t sat in on classes anywhere. With more information I hope she can make an informed decision instead of a knee-jerk reaction based on the perceived prestige of the school name.
Does anyone know if Miami snail mails notifications or if they email? We are anxiously waiting to hear, especially since the website said 3/15. I went through this insane process a couple of years ago with S and can’t believe I am going through this again with my D. I run to check to see if the mail has arrived and when I get to the mailbox, I’m afraid to open it!
Last year son got notified on portal 3/12 and then email followed on 3/13
I called today and they said next week via portal.
Help, Help, Help. My D has laryngitis/sore throat and her musical opens tomorrow (naturally). Any suggestions on getting better ASAP! Thanks!!!
